Michigan State commit Auston Robertson faces charges, doesn't sign

Robertson was arrested Jan. 13 by Fort Wayne Police and charged with misdemeanor battery, according to Allen Superior Court 4 records. He was released Jan. 18 on $750 bond and has a status hearing at the court Feb. 11.

Robertson previously faced misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, damaging or defacing property, and resisting arrest. But those charges were dropped in Allen Superior Court 5 on Sept. 10.

Or does the rough crowd hang out with him? Obviously don't know the kid, but given his questionable grades and now two involvements with the law in the last six months or so this kid is more than a knucklehead. Definitely not a RKG.

Both. Wayne HS district has some extremely rough areas within district bounds. I know there are some kids that are able to pull themselves out of these circumstances, but according to colleagues I have at Wayne, he never really made an attempt to distance himself from some negative influences and he himself became a negative influence. He had opportunities to go play elsewhere in town (Luers, for one) but chose to stay at Wayne. His work ethic and conditioning were suspect. Basically he banked off his natural athleticism to make plays, which is sort of what shows on film. Parental background isn't the strongest either. Basically a "sum of all fears" type of situation that now could potentially cost this kid his MSU scholly.

My hunch has always been he goes the JUCO route (like Randy Gregory, another Indiana kid did a few years ago) and ends up somewhere in a couple years. Maybe getting out of Fort Wayne will do him some good.

Damn, it really sucked missing on him. Hopefully he recognizes whats ahead of him and pulls his head out of his ass. Depending on the school, college could be the best or worst thing for him. Wish him luck.
