Eagles are in my top 5 favorite bands. Did he vocals for some all-time classics in addition to playing guitar. Also had a successful solo career. RIP

He will be missed. Was lucky enough to see him with the Eagles on the Hotel California tour at Comisky Park. Probably my wifes favorite band.

Already Gone is my jam.
I am a fan for sure.

He and Henley may have been huge assholes. But they made their mark with some timeless music.

Got a video of me singing it around here somewhere.

"It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford / slowing down to take a look at me."

Great line....Jackson Browne wrote the song. But Glenn tossed that in there and finished it.

What's interesting about Take it Easy is that the original writer of the song was Jackson Browne. But he got to that point in the song and just had a mental block and couldn't come up with right words. Went to Glenn Frey and Frey almost immediately came up with these lyrics and finished the song. Browne then turned the song over to Frey.

Just last week a friend of mine and her husband were moving from California to home in Georgia. She stopped in Winslow, AR. and took a picture of herself standing on a corner in Winslow, AR.

The Eagles were a huge part of my teenage years. It never bothered me that I listened to "old" music growing up and kids had no idea what I was listening to. I love Glenn for his contributions to music and my life. Take it easy, brother.

Did you mean Winslow, AZ?

Life is too short to hold grudges, looking back they all seem trivial, thanks for the songs, RIP Glenn.

Like dwshade said, an absolute kick in the gut.

Fascinating career. Met a rising new artist in Bob Seger and sang back up on his debut album Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. Followed his girlfriend out to LA where he meets her sister's bandmate, JD Souther who he would write a lot of early Eagles songs with. Around this time he was hanging with JD's girlfriend, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor and Jackson Browne and they all lived in the same complex cross pollinating. Can you imagine that? For me personally, this man and his cohorts produced much of my personal soundtrack.

Thanks Glenn and RIP.

He was in one of my favorite "Miami Vice" episodes, "Smuggler's Blues." Great episode, great song, among so many others. RIP Glenn.

The Eagles are easily my favorite band, and have always been something my parents and I could share a love of, which I was so grateful for. I am so thankful that I got to see them in concert a few years back. They are one of the few acts that I truly believe sounded better in person than on their albums.

Thanks for sharing your talent with us all those years, Glenn. You'll be missed. Heaven's got a new kid in town tonight.

Big Eagles fan. Saw them about 5 years ago at Bankers Life. Best concert I've eve been to. Came out and played for 2 hours, took a break and then played for another hour and a half. No gimmicks are crazy backdrops. They played the songs the way they were written.

Sauder wrote the music for Hotel California and Fry did the lyrics. If I remember correctly, Fry and Henley both were in Stone Ponies prior to forming The Eagles. Stone Ponies was the band that played for Linda Ronstadt.

Many great songs, but IMO Lyin Eyes is the best.

67 is way to young to go. RIP Glenn Fry and thanks for your contributions to the world of music.

Sad seeing our childhood rock idols passing away. Some musicians, groups transcend time. The Eagles is one such group. And Frey was such an integral part of them. He will be missed. RIP Glenn Frey.

Now you are really pissin' me off, Bammer!

Seriously, however,

I was never a great Eagles fan, I don't know why, saw them a couple of times, but one thing :

Hotel California!

Hear's to all those other motardistic, quasi-ambulatory, philanthrops at the Lake O'Neil Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton! Man, was that a lifetime ago, and a good one at that!

My roommate is the biggest Eagles fan I know. He was crushed. Said he called his grandma, told her the news, and she started bawling.

It's been a rough month for these celeb deaths.

wrote great songs, harmonies, lyrics, was a good musician and could sing, as well as entertain and be a front man on stage.

very hard to have and do ALL of the above...but he did it. for quite a long time.

much respect to a Detroit kid that chased a dream and made it happen.

anyone catch that Eagles special on showtime/hbo last year (was like a 3 hour deal, lots of great footage, stories etc)?

growing up in the 70s I was more of a zeppelin stones who GD allmans guy but damn near every time I turned on my radio an eagle song would inevitably come on...and I would never turn the dial.

RIP and thanks for the memories!

"The History of the Eagles"
It's on Netflix now. Has been for awhile.
I've watched it 3 or 4 times for inspiration on off weekends.
I've been inspired to write some stuff I'm pretty proud of after watching it.

Going to be cold in ATL on Saturday... thinking it's a good day to rock out to some Eagles and Frey, and re-watch the above.
