Good for Breneman. I still hope he ends up somewhere other than PSU. And I hope his recovery is going well.

Big bummer for PSU fans. I have a client thats a huge PSU fan and just last week we were talking about this kid and I joked how we almost stole him away. They think he's going to be a superstar along with Hakenburg. Also, interesting to note that my client isn't sold on Franklin. In fact, is pretty skeptical that he's ultimately the right guy for the job.

Really tough break. He had possibly the best TE tape I've seen since I started following recruiting.

No specifics...and it looks like they want to keep it that way. Man, this is a very tough break and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

He had a couple knee injuries in high school alone, no?

Poor guy, he had pro potential, but his knees sure didn't.

Unlike many students, Breneman used his college years well.

Following spring practice of 2015, Breneman was awarded the Frank Patrick Total Commitment Award for his efforts in all facets of the program, on and off the field.

In the classroom, Breneman graduated with a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average and earned his degree from Smeal College of Business in just three years. He plans to pursue a career in business or politics.

Off the field, Breneman has served on the executive board of Uplifting Athletes for the past three years, most recently serving as Vice President. He helped the chapter raise more than $1 million for kidney cancer treatment. In 2015, Breneman was courted by athletic director Sandy Barbour to join Penn State's Athletic Director's Leadership Institute. Additionally, he was voted by his teammates to serve on the Penn State football leadership council.

Breneman has been honored for his creation of the "Catch the Cure for A.L.S." initiative as a high school senior. "Catch the Cure" was inspired by family friend, Tom Kirchhoff, and has raised more than $200,000 to benefit Project A.L.S. Breneman received the 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, as well as the 2013 PA NAIFA Humanitarian Award for his efforts.

Saw a few Penn State games and this kid looked like a ghost, no muscle definition at all, kid was probably never able to put on weight with all his injuries

Playing this year at Umass. Probably the last time PSU will ever beat us out for a recruit but I really wanted this kid in an Irish uni

Wow, I totally lost track of this kid. Always wondered what happened to him. I'm just catching up now by reading the last page of posts.

It's sad his football career was derailed by injury but seeing how he made the most of free college by working hard and getting involved off the field reminds me why I wanted him to come to ND so much. He always seemed like a great kid. If college football can legitimately survive as an amateur sport, then it will be because of kids like Breneman (not to mention more than a few exemplary scholar athletes who did decide to come to ND).

Tough decision for him. This years TE class is loaded and could have 3 first round TE's. So if he came out next year he could be the first TE drafted. But, he already has a degree and a history of injuries. So it might be in his best interest to enter the draft this year and not risk an injury in college next year. Either way I will be rooting for the kid.

Moved into the world of politics since his retirement from football.

Breneman is affiliated with the Republican Party.

After graduating from Penn State's Smeal College of Business in December, 2015, with a degree in business management and political science, Breneman was hired by Mike Regan to serve as his campaign manager for his 2016 Pennsylvania Senate run. In April 2016, Regan won the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania Senate, District 31 with over 52% of the vote in a four-person primary election. After the victory, Regan offered Breneman the job of his chief of staff at just 21 years old. Breneman briefly accepted, but then instead opted to return to football at the University of Massachusetts and pursue his MBA.[15]

Immediately following his retirement in 2018, Breneman took a job as an associate with Harrisburg-based political consulting firm Red Maverick Media.[16]

In late March, 2018, it was reported that Breneman had begun a new role as the campaign manager for John Joyce, who is running for US Congress in Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district.[17]
