I wouldn't sell Corey short. I think he becomes a senior leader next year and I'm quite certain staff is expecting a lot from him next year. I'm also excited to see Miles Boykin who is a WR built like a TE. Kelly is very high on him.

Corey's a very good situational player but it's hard to see a guy who has so disappeared the last season and a half becoming a primary receiver at this point in his career. We'll see.
I think Torii Hunter emerges as the No. 1 guy - he showed a lot in the second half of this year - with ESB as a rising star and CJ a home run threat who will get touches. Wouldn't give up on Holmes and Brent just yet. And figure Alize Jones is going to play a much bigger role in our offense next year. Freshmen will play if they can block downfield.

Justin Brent needs to be moved back to WR in the spring. Kid is to talented not to get on the field as a junior. If he stopped banging porn stars that would be helpful too.

What makes you think we don't need him at RB? Isn't the current 5 backs we have for next year ( including Brent) a little thin as it is?

TIFWIW, Talking about Corey Robinson, a poster with a very good track record on ISD has claimed there is a "possibility" that Corey quits the football team and continues to do study abroad type things. It seems that his heart may not fully be into football anymore, or at least not in it to the extent a D1 player needs it to be.

I agree that Hunter will be the #1 receiver. No question. I'm going to hold off on calling ESB a rising star until he starts playing. I'm optimistic just like I am with Boykin but I need to see something first.

Wow. Though honestly, I can't begrudge a guy quitting football if his heart's not that into it. Would David Robinson still come to the game every week and be on TV though?

Remember when some website thought he might be a first rounder?

Thanks for posting this GB. I'm glad they highlight his blocking, they could have shown 50 more plays like that. He's both advanced in technique and his willingness to block as an elite WR is the thing that will get him on the field quick.

I really believe he can walk on to the field and be an immediate replacement for Chris Brown. I hate to say he's going to be Christian Kirk but I think there's a great chance he will. Kirk played at my local HS in Scottsdale and I saw JMc a handful of times while splitting time in Cali. JMc's the better HS WR, playing against better comp. (Saguaro doesn't play bums but it's not Centennial's schedule obviously) Why can't he be the better freshman WR? Time will tell.

I really don't think this means anything.. Kids on these circuits constantly make friends with each other, Rarely do I think it sways their opinion where to go

It absolutely is a driving factor where kids go. It's huuuuuuge. Been that way since HS school athletes started building their own teams over the summers back with the Fab5. Plus, this late in the game, it might be the nudge he needed if he's a 50-50 guy... seeing another successful Cali kid bucking the trend and going to ND, the advantages it has coming back home to play every year vs. blindly going to OU like all the other kid from Fresno and getting stuck in Texas culture for 3 years.

The question is, are they bonding because they're simply Cali kids or are they bonding because they know something that they haven't told us yet?

Hopefully Kelly isn't pulling JM to Oklahoma

He decides in 4 days and has never even considered Oklahoma. I highly doubt thats what they are talking about. Two common teams are Oregon and ND, if they are even talking about schools at all. They could be talking about how cool the swag is, who knows.

What a pessimistic post. Considering McKinley hasn't ever considered OU, you're kinda grasping at straws here.

Still sour about the OSU game?

Although I generally agree with your point, Kelly himself has been quoted saying he'd never choose a school based on what some other kid is doing. He doesn't strike me as the type to use another athletes intentions to drive his own.

He seems like a very heady kid and wants to make this decision completely on his own.

Taking in a perspective of someone you relate to is a pretty smart move. A heady kid makes his own decision based on all the data he collects. If he's 50-50, maybe this is the 1% of info that tips the scales.

Recruiting is fun but it's also scary to buck the trends of where you come from. I had offers from all 3 coasts but only a few from the Midwest. In the end, I played for 2 Midwest schools. Going away is hard. If I had an AAU teammate that would have gone to Princeton with me, I may have gone. Who knows?

From the linked article:

“I spent a lot of time to figure it out,” McKinley said. “The reason I picked that school is it just best fits me overall and the kind of person I am and what they could do for me. I just think the school I picked will do the most.”

Out of Notre Dame, Washington and Oregon as finalists. Yeeeeeaaaaah, buddy.
