So could Jamarcus Russell.

What point are you trying to make here? Russell sucked in the pros, but was a bad mofo in college, won a title and was a Heisman finalist. I would be pretty damn happy if he followed that kind of trajectory.

Lacey Underall: You're crazy...
Ty Webb: That's what they said about Son of Sam.

And I don't see ND, or Sanford raising any young J.Russells... lol.

My point was 'So could Jamarcus Russell'. It's literally as easy as what you quoted.

I think Russell could have been Cam Newton before Cam Newton became Cam Newton in the pros. He lacked work ethic, became fat and out of shape, and loved his "lean" too much". Typical riches to rags story of a professional athlete.

The fact that Kaizer's arm might be the weakest of any QB on the team is absolutely filthy.

No sweat, bro!

Using 'Kizer' and 'weakest arm' in the same sentence is an oxymoron. Proper statement of your point may be better recorded as : No quarterback on the ND roster has less than an elite arm.

(I am not discussing Montgomery VanGorder here.)

But I think that is true even if you include Ian Book.

Kizer has an NFL arm for sure, but Zaire's has more arm strength, and Wimbush might have the strongest of the three.

And even more filthy is that Kizer might be the least athletic of the three and he still managed to outrun the entire Temple defense in a footrace and almost 500 rushing yards on the season. The future is bright.

I agree with your point here but Russell never won a title (unless you count the SEC West division title) and never came close to being a Heisman finalist as he never cracked the top 10 in voting.

BK plans to redshirt him next year

“@PeteSampson_: Brian Kelly tells @BruceFeldmanCFB that he plans to red shirt quarterback Brandon Wimbush this fall.”

I'd like to Know Brandon's opinion on this? already knowing you will redshirt next year without getting a shot. He could transfer sit out next year and start for a contender the following year.

The plan this year was to redshirt Brandon but Zaire's injury screwed everything up. He committed to ND with the understanding that he would redshirt one year so that he could start for at least 2 seasons.

Or sit out at ND and start for a contender the following year!

And where would that really get him? Maybe he actually likes ND. Maybe not every ND player with a lot of stars next to his name is looking for an opportunity to leave just to further their football careers. Let BK run his show. He and Sanford know what up.

I feel bad for defending you yesterday. Like what in the actual fuck are you talking about? Why would he do that under any circumstance?

Let's say he is told 100% that he is going to redshirt no matter what happens in order to give him the most eligibility to be a multi-year starter. His two options, as you put them, are:
1) Stay at the school you admittedly like a lot, with coaches you really like a lot and believe in you, and play up to 3 years as the starter.
2) Transfer to a school where you don't have those relationships, forfeit a valuable degree, maybe play up to 3 years as a starter if things break right.

In what universe would anyone ever logically choose option #2? Even from a strictly football perspective, all he does is change systems, possibly miss a bunch of practice time, and then miss the same amount of time on the field. Makes zero sense.

It was said some time ago this was the plan and He and his mom are very comfortable with this as they see the big picture and he will certainly have his time to shine. This just gives him more of it.

Yup, he effectively loses 0% of his eligibility by taking a redshirt. Andrew Luck redshirted... most QBs redshirt.

And then he'll have the opportunity to be a multi-year starter on a loaded team and/or leave for the NFL whenever he decides its time. The only scenario where it would ever make sense for him to jump ship is if he believe that he wouldn't be given the opportunity to start following that.

Blah blah blah...he ain't going anywhere. Mom's running that ship and she doesn't play. She'll be the first one to tell you, he's at ND to become an educated man, football is just what's footing the bill. The University would be wise to pull a Hairball and hire her as Senior VP of Discipline. Had they done that at Christmas, Redfield and Jillery would have been asleep by 8pm.

Wasn't BW figuring on redshirting last year even before he got on campus? Thought he had discussed this and knew he would be behind EG and MZ with DK already having completed a redshirt to back them up.

EDIT: Yeah sorry, didn't read far enough... http://www.irishenvy.com/forums/2015-recruiting-profiles/207072-15-nj-qb-brandon-wimbush-notre-dame-signed-nli-23.html#post1685935 GK's post above

I'm sure we'll be stoked with our QBs this year but I am anxious to see what Brandon brings to the table.

Can't wait to see him compete in '17 after a year of conditioning, learning the playbook and working with our staff.
