I would give up a half in Barnett for a all-in and unafraid of competition Waller and ESB 100 times out of 100. If a QB is not 100% bought into a team, coach, system, etc, he won't be successful (and probably wouldn't stick around). Give me kids who want to be here.

I agree with this all day everyday. It sucks to lose big time kids, but it sucks even more to have kids come in and create problems in the locker room and then transfer anyways. If Waller is all in, by all means come to ND and lead the team.

So Tuitt, he decommitted, then recommitted.

C'mon guys we've had plenty of guys reaffirm and be successful.

I guess I don't see this as either/or type of stuff.

I'd take Barnett over Waller. ND was already in pretty good shape with ESB, who's to say that he wouldn't have come anyway? Same with Ofodile.

As Ironman said, of course we want guys that are "all in." But as of a week ago, we thought Barnett was all in. Assuming Waller commits and is therefore all in, who's to say he won't bolt for osu or auburn, if they decide they really want him?

True he did, but that may have been the fastest de-commitment and re-commitment in the history of recruiting. Either way, I am sure glad he did.

I'm guessing another suitor turned up the heat on Waller when ND came knocking and the school decided it couldn't wait any longer.

That could very well be it, but if I am reading the signs correctly, everything happening looks to be pointing towards ND. Lots of CB's going his way too so we will see.

This is a rather odd situation. I'm would be surprised that BK and staff take a QB commit without visiting. Also, I would be surprised if this announcement isn't a commitment. Posting a time to announce a top group seems a little ridiculous but its recruiting so who knows.

He doesn't have too many offers as this point. OSU, Bama, and USC are all wait and see mode so he can't commit to those schools. NW is really the only other option at this point. I highly doubt he is going to commit to NW without at least visiting ND in June like previously discussed.

And Cal. In fact, I think the ONLY school he has visited is Cal... can't find a record of him making any other trips. Also, Arizona thought they were getting Sheriron Jones, so that's another school to watch.

Doesn't he already have a top 6 or was that Francois?

If Travis makes a decision tonight and it's not Notre Dame. That's fine with me because I really like Kendall Hinton and his tape

Maybe he is going to announce he is quitting football all together. Now that would be a twist.

True but I just don't see this kid committing to Cal or Arizona without at least visiting ND. None of those schools, at least to me, say hey I have to jump on this offer now or I may miss the boat.

Guys I don't want to sound like a dick but he doesn't have offers from a lot of these places you may traditionally be worried about. Bama, OSU, and USC haven't offered. Unless one did under the radar that we may not know about, which is unlikely, he won't be committing to those schools. If it isn't a commitment to ND, I would bet its announcing a top group and the places he'll visit this summer.

Bama is in line to get a commit from Dormandy. Speculation is within the next day or so as he is currently there visiting. And yes, Waller hasn't been offered. Barnett comes Thursday for what that's worth.

That's what I was trying to say (inartfully); that a wait-and-see offer is no longer wait-and-see and he's willing to pull the trigger on that because he has been in contact with the wait-and-see school much longer than with ND.

As to why he wouldn't wait? In the case of ND or any previously wait-and-see candidates he might want to jump on his spot before it's gone.

Basically, it seems like ND would have the weakest relationship with him and their entrance into the game may have changed how another school views him.

As to his lack of visits to these schools: that's news to me. He may have taken unreported visits to any place excelt ND since he hasn't had time to check out South Bend.

OTOOH, he may be pulling the trigger publicly with ND (even if the staff isn't ready to count him in yet) to scare off the other QBs from beating him to the punch.

EDIT: and maybe, hopefully ESB is giving him a sales pitch.

Per II, it doesn't sound like ND has heard anything regarding a commitment today.

Shocker that Hopkins of all guys is the one who reports that Waller is committing tonight. Just another black eye on his journalistic resume if this "announcement" ends up being a top 5 list or something.

One thing for sure, this class is loaded with quarterback prospects. Beside Hinton, here's two more unheralded prospects - Ben Hicks, Midland, Texas and James Morgan, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

EDIT: couldn't embed on my phone last night

I kind of hope he announces "I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico".

I'd LOL.
