Denson has exceeded expectations as a recruiter and a coach. It looks like ND struck gold with the hire.

Well Autry already coaches at his Alma mater...

True, but that wouldn't make a coordinator position any less enticing. I think best case scenario, if Denson is itching to climb the coaching ladder, is for him to get into a coordinating position with Kelly's exit and Denbrock/Sanford's promotion to keep him working the state of florida for ND

I think so far this year he's already had a better coaching year then Alford ever did. Plus recruiting in Florida might have actualy picked up

Florida recruiting:

- 2012 (1) - WR Feguson (GONE)
- 2013 (4) - RB Bryant (GONE), RB Folston, TE Heuerman (DONE), LB Deeb (DONE)
- 2014 (1) - WR Holmes
- 2015 (2) - RB Williams, LB Coney
- 2016 (6) - RB Jones, OG Boudreaux, S Studstill, S Perry, WR Stepherson, RB McIntosh
- 2017 (1) - OT Gibbons

Remaining 2016 targets include Florida LB Jones (Loy CB). So Denson has basically matched the prior 4 years Florida recruiting in one year. And I believe last year's were both locked up late just not sure if Denson was involved or here yet.

I believe Dexter Williams was an Alford guy, but he committed to the school, not the coach, and Alford did a solid when he left and encouraged Dexter to stick with us (IIRC).
Either way, Denson's off to a very good start both as a coach and a recruiter. Definitely could see him being another Alford, maybe with more production out of his RBs once they actually get here.

Not to mention our door into IMG is pretty well open at this point as well. It was cracked during Alford's time. Yes... Williams and Coney were Alford as well.

Great point, and you probably are referring to Beal maybe going to IMG next year as well to keep that connection going.

If you honestly think ND is not only going to hire a 1st time HC but also a 1st time OC, then I would really enjoy partaking in whatever you're smoking.

Andrew thinks it's legit 50/50. We have won over dad and he seems like a great kid but he seems enamored with playing for Harbaugh so that is keeping Michigan in it. Most likely comes down to home visits and where he fits best. Imo duke is running a distant third.

So do you think Notre Dame or UM leads?

I think and leads and I'd be very surprised if he doesn't end up here. Maybe that chanes with Michigan having a new DC... maybe they can get back in the race... but I don't think ND is "tied" with anyone right now.
