8. Miami Dolphins: Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
Miami adds one of the most explosive talents in the draft in this scenario, as Smith has proven himself as one of the best all-around defensive players in college football this season. Smith graded very well in coverage (+4.6), against the run (+20.0) and as a pass-rusher (+5.9).

19. Houston Texans: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
With left tackle Duane Brown locked up for the long term, Stanley comes in to compete with RT Derek Newton, who struggles in pass protection, for a starting job. Stanley shines in that area, grading at +9.6 and +8.4 each of the last two seasons.

26. Seattle Seahawks: Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame
Adding even more talent to the defensive line, the Seahawks add Day to the mix to complement their explosive edge rushers. He lived up to the hype this season, grading at +27.4 as a rusher and +23.5 against the run, good for the third overall grade among interior defensive linemen.

That's quite a bit worse than I thought for Stanley and quite a bit better than I thought for Day.

Ditto! I figured that Stanley would be going between 7th-12th pick and definitely no later than a 15th. My guess on Day would be mid 2nd to early 3rd. It would be a fluke year if Jaylon is not a top 10 pick. Best OLB available, surely someone in top 10 needs a major upgrade at that position.

Projected First Rounders by School

ND: 3
Alabama: 3
Ole Miss: 3
Ohio St.: 2
Florida: 2
Florida St.: 1
Clemson: 1
USC: 1
Stanford: 1
Michigan St.: 1
Georgia: 1
UCLA: 1
Michigan: 0

I know draft picks aren't always an accurate indication of where a team stands (see ND last year), but it would be a great change of pace to have three ND players taken in the first round.

In that scenario, I fly down to Texas and round house kick Jarry Jones in the MFing face. Cowboys better take Jaylon Smith at #6, if he's available. They got Nick Martin once, take another Domer and you won't be disappointed.

Sheldon would be a perfect fit to start his career in Seattle. Won't be asked to play everydown but is a perfect fit for their attacking 4-3 scheme.

Lol that mock draft is horrible. I don't think there is a wide receiver worth taking before pick #20, let alone 3 receivers in the top 15! And DeForest Buckner going #3 seems high

Yea it was pretty bad. I don't think there's any way Stanley falls out of the top 15 unless he has a bad combine.

I'm going to try and go to the draft this year considering we may have 3 first rounders.

Same. I want to experience the draft at least once.

There always seems to be a player that the experts peg as a lock to be drafted in the top 10 that drops to the middle to late first round. It'll be interesting to see who that player is this year, hopefully its not Ronnie

For those of you still holding out hope

Notre Dame's Brian Kelly expects Ronnie Stanley to enter draft - NFL.com
"I would tell Jaylon, and I would tell Ronnie, if you're going to be the first tackle, or you're going to be the first one taken at your position, you've got to seriously consider what your future looks like. It's not, probably, going to get much better," Kelly said.

At least he's straight up, I can respect that.

Could definitely see the Ravens scooping up Jaylon.

I love how they draft and I could see that as well but I think they have to address that secondary, its terrible for how good their front 7 is.

Watch them draft Corey Coleman or someone like that instead. haha

I'm gonna go ahead and say the Giants will not be able to draft him. Sigh.

Just won a Herbie for national defensive player of the year, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Seriously Jaylon Smith is like some create-a-player recruit id make in NCAA 14 from Indiana with maxed out stats that I knew I had a great chance of signing. Kid is the perfect Notre Dame player. So privileged to watch him play.

Yea, I'll be utterly shocked if he doesn't have an insanely successful NFL career. Due to his attitude and ability, I see him as sure of an NFL player as you can draft. Won't get into trouble, will work his butt off, and oh yea remember that whole freak athlete thing, he's one of them.

Yep, exactly. You couldn't craft a better player. Let's hope a Jaylon-type safety and DE show up in the next class or two.

Agreed. I can't remember a guy from nd being more of a sure thing. Maybe Bryant Young.
