So happy to hear Fuller is coming back. As much as I love him, I'm not so sure his game translates to the NFL all that well, so getting that degree is key to his success IMO.

He will never be a first rounder until he starts to handle more of the route tree, and while his speed is electric in college, it will be much more even at the next level.

Big props WF for making the smart decision!

So to recap the past 2 weeks, we had the 'bad news might be coming', to 'there is some smoke', to 3 TDs vs. Pitt and Will saying he's coming back for another year to graduate and score many more TDs.

Glad that was a big swing and a miss, lol.

IDK what happens next year but I fully expect ESB to sit the whole year behind Fuller rather than play the other WR spot because I have no faith in the staff making it a priority to get the best athletes on the field at the same time.

This is simply your Joe Schmidt bias coming through.

If there is one thing that BK has been good at, it is having players switch positions to get the best athletes on the field.

So ESPN is running on the ticker that Fuller said he would decide his future after the season. I thought he stated yesterday he was returning.

edit; sorry... says he is not planning on declaring for the draft.

I'm pretty sure that vote does not determine who wins the award. It might count for something, but it's not going to stop him from winning if he is deserving. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.
It says whoever wins this vote gets one vote in a ballot for the award.

Knew he would want to return.
Love this kid.
Like many have already said - has a chance to be the best WR statistically in ND history.
Good for him.
Your move Jaylon.

I think he'll do just fine. He reminds me of Marvin Harrison, very quick out of his cuts with speed.

Good news! But a bit of a head scratcher. He should go pro. I hate to see a guy who could be a first round pick come back and get injured. Remember what happened to Lee Evans?

I wouldn't read anything into it. Pretty common for guys to say they are 100% definitely coming back in the heat of a championship chase and then go pro at the end of the season when calmer heads prevail.

Slightly off topic but a lot of people in r/cfb saying Jaylon return to ND is likely. Claiming they're familiar from Fort Wayne/Bishop Luers

there are 4 wr's ranked higher than him...and he isn't going to be featured wr that i don't think he would go in the 1st round...smart move plus he can always get the insurance which ND pays for

I find it irresponsible that the media asked Fuller this QU but not Jaylon, however, Jaylon was either not interviewed or the reporter dropped the ball. No offense to Fuller, but you don't ask him that QU without asking Jaylon Smith that QU. Jaylon is a superstar.

Huh? Are you trying to insinuate that the media somehow disrespected Jaylon Smith by asking Will Fuller about leaving early, but not asking Smith?

Not at all.

Saying if they're asking Will that QU, they should have asked Jaylon that QU. So the reporter dropped the ball. If people are interested in Will commenting on his 2016 status, they sure as H are interested in Jaylon commenting on his 2016 status. So if the question was deemed fair game, which it apparently was, they dropped the ball.

Not sure what's going to ultimately happen. I do remember the Tuitt story in 2013 where he supposedly said he was coming back. It was around this same time of year. I have no reason to believe that Fuller will change his mind once the season is over but I would understand if he did.

Some student from the school newspaper is the only person that reported Tuitt was coming back. Tuitt then quickly shot that down and we all know how that ended.

In Will's case, multiple professional reporters reported Will's return

I think it is assumed that Jaylon is gone and to ask him would be putting him on the spot unnecessarily. And while everywhere you look people are saying that Jaylon will go mid to high first round and could play in the NFL today, that isn't the case with Will. He has plenty to work on, most notably attacking the football and catching with his hands.
Multiple draft guys have Will securely in the 1st round.

ESB to the other side of the field is not some rocket science move.

Route tree is route tree and the offense is the offense.

The move from outside to slot is much more different.

If ESB is our second best outside WR next year he will be playing plain and simple.
