Help me out someone... Begoya is the black dude and Ridley is the white chick?
Yeah. Sorry John Boyega.
I hate my device.

Pretty exciting to speculate on what dafaq happened to Luke and where he plays into the story... They obviously went WAY off the reservation in respects to the Thrawn triology/ universe ( knowing I'm a fan of those may help understand my, 'wtf, how do they not know about the civil war?!?' Reaction). Honestly tho, those books were so good that it may be hard for the films to live up in comparing the story lines and alternate universes... Timothy Zahn hit those out the park.
Why that order? Can you explain further?
John Boyega, yes. He totally looks like Smash Williams from Friday Night Lights.Help me out someone... Begoya is the black dude and Ridley is the white chick?
Any kind of Luke-to-the-dark-side arc would be 100% filth and render both Empire and Return utterly pointless.THEORY: Luke has become obsessed with the idea of "bringing balance to the Force" in the long years since his father died to save him. In some way, shape, or form, this obsession leads to Luke either helping create Kylo Ren or joining Kylo Ren as a mentor. It may even turn out that Luke has become the ultimate evil himself, being so far removed from the death of Vader, and that Ren is his apprentice. He believes that Ren will eradicate the Jedi, and that Ren will then be consumed by the Dark Side and destroyed, and that the Force will find true balance after his own natural death when Jedi and Sith are extinct.
This elaborate plot is foiled in the first thirty minutes of Episode VII, as the black guy and the girl both realize they are Force users. Luke will catch wind of this, will realize that using Ren to eradicate any potential Force-users will be much more work than anticipated; sequels ensue.

I like Han way more, but I think Luke is more important to the story. I just really hope they don't try to go full circle, and have one of the main characters be one of Luke's kids.
I was 11 when Star Wars came out. That movie was the first special effects show that matched or exceeded your imagination. To see it at that age was absolute magic. It rewired my brain. I've had this discussion before, there is a group of movie fans that is now between 46-53 that were the perfect age at the perfect time in history. It probably was even the deciding factor in my course of study in college which was in a nutshell, the battle between freedom and tyranny.
Fast forward to today...
My daughter is 11. I'm fortunate that she gets the sci-fi / fantasy genre. She's an extreme Marvelhead like I am. She understands the difference between The First Avenger and Winter Soldier, she recognizes Spiderman as a chick flick. She know's GOTG is genius, Antman is a comedy and holds on to the fading hope that the Fantastic Four will someday be properly produced.
She 2 or 3 when Episode 6 came out so it was never high on her list to see before but she is stoked now to watch the earlier episodes and then go see it together. I'm gonna take her on Saturday the 19th because get this... she will be the exact same age to the day on the 19th as I was on opening night, May 25th '77. She even asked to buy back to back tickets to watch it twice.
Things like this last a lifetime.
Signed,
One happy Dad
Saw this elsewhere:
Final shot of The Force Awakens:
Kyloe Ren holds burnt Vader helmet. Removes his own. Two fish ears plop out.
"Meesa gonna avenge you, Ani"
You're gonna be disappointed. Disney execs said about a week ago that it is a family saga and will include them.
They're making five movies right now, only three are dealing directly with the main storyline. The other two are stand alone film, so that could happen one day. After they do these 3 new films I'd like to see them branch out away from the Skywalker family a bit. Maybe do some movies with Dash Rendar. Bradley Cooper could play him:

I'm a Star Wars noob and my knowledge has been limited outside of the movies.
Can someone explain what the process for what is considered canon in the SW universe? It is entire unclear to me what media is canon and who decides if it is/isn't.
All the movies are cannon, the books etc, which were all cannon prior to Disney buying it up are now considered outside of the cannon (sucks because many of the books were pure gold). example: Mara Jade and Talon Karrde now aren't cannon, when they were until recently.
So Disney considers everything outside the movies to be fan fiction?

It'll be interesting to see what happens with that universe... is it totally scrapped and a bunch of books on the new universe take their place or will there still be a niche market for them?

After Star Wars was released, it became apparent that my story—however many films it took to tell—was only one of thousands that could be told about the characters who inhabit its galaxy. But these were not stories I was destined to tell. Instead they would spring from the imagination of other writers, inspired by the glimpse of a galaxy that Star Wars provided. Today it is an amazing, if unexpected, legacy of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing new stories to the Saga.
There are two worlds here. There’s my world, which is the movies, and there’s this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe—the licensing world of the books, games and comic books. They don’t intrude on my world, which is a select period of time, [but] they do intrude in between the movies. I don’t get too involved in the parallel universe.
So Disney considers everything outside the movies to be fan fiction?
Clone Wars and Rebels are canon.I haven't seen an official release or anything but they are clearly moving in another direction, I mean, you can't have two completely different stories/universes with many of the same characters exist within the same cannon can you???
Clone Wars and Rebels are canon.
Same universe. Official events therein. Are you saying the are completely different universes? I am aware of those shows but have never sat and watched, when my girls have them on I just catch enough to get the impression they are extensions of the occurrences between AotC and RotS. No?
Basically, I want to know what I need to watch/read to be completely informed on the events of the SW universe (minutia and all) in advance of the upcoming trilogy storyline.
The cartoons are quite good. And there are official books now.No books, which again sucks because imo, other than ESB the Thrawn Trilogy was the best Star Wars had to offer... basically, unless you want to watch a bunch of cartoons, then just watch the movies...
