I don't know why you guys think SC is a great job? Crap facilities, crap location of LA, Long commute to work from any place you want to live, cost of living, cost of living and cost of living when and they don't pay as much as you'd think.

Sounds familiar...

Didn't the Eagles brass basically make a ton of concessions for him too this offseason? Seems like a 2 year commitment minimum after those were made.

Yeah they made him the GM this past offseason. He's not getting fired after one year of total control. People in Philly don't want him fired either.

You know how much Brian Kelly makes?

And I'm not sure why you bolded the bit about commuting, because there are lots of lovely neighborhoods very close to ND's campus. Not so for USC.

I just don't see Chip Kelly bolting at all... He's got full control at the highest level of the sport. If he loses his role in player personnel? Maybe. I don't see that happening (yet)

Does anybody know how much BK makes? And it's all relative. BK isn't the only coach who gets money that's not reported publically. Urban gets his fat 5 million plus the side money too. It's not exclusive to ND

If USC tries to get Chip Kelly right as his Show Cause expires, they'll really have to drop any pretense to being an ethical program.

Then again, they hired two of Pete the Cheat's flunkies in a pathetic attempt to recreate the glory days of the '00s, so perhaps they're well past that point already.

Hopefully, whoever they hire is unable to keep Tee Martin on staff. He's huge for them.

There is no "easy 10 mile drive to Granger" from SC's facilities and the facilities are horrible.

You may think South Bend is a hole but you obviously haven't been to SC's campus and it's surrounding area and it's surrounding area.

You'd kmow better than I, but I have a really hard time believing USC has poor facilities.

If Bo Pelini didn't have a great buyout clause from NU, I'd think he'd consider it, but the salary U$C would pay would disqualify Pelini from the remainder of his buyout

Not that I think the 'SC job is anything special, but.........

Santa Monica would be a 45-60 minute drive, even in traffic. Probably about the same for Marina Del Rey. Both of those locations would be nice to live in.

Lol

Ten candidates to replace Steve Sarkisian at USC

2. Brian Kelly

It seems unlikely on the surface that Kelly would leave Notre Dame for a rival that plays the Fighting Irish every year, but Kelly would be an excellent fit and bring a much-needed vibe of maturity and class to the USC operation. He has also made comments this year referencing the difficulties of the Notre Dame job, particularly academically, and how the external pressures chew up coaches and spit them out. “There’s no question, you can’t do this job for 15 years,” he said. He’s been at Notre Dame for six. If he’s looking for a change, this would be as good as it gets.

I don't know whether to feel mad or happy that the coaches of the two football teams I root for are at the top of this list

They will hire both Kelly's!!!!!!!! Chip will coach, and Brian will call plays lol.

Man, that's gratifying to read. A little perspective for those calling for Kelly's head.

But they aren't calling for Brian Kelly's head. They just think that he sucks, and that ND will never get anywhere with him. And if the rest of us are satisfied with mediocre play; well, then........

I would take Chip Kelly if they take Brian.

Chip would fit in much better at Notre Dame then USC in my opinion after observing him for three years. The dude is a control freak who demands order and has no time for players that aren't fully committed. I feel like you can't be a control freak at the USC job because you are in LA and that is part of the appeal of it. One of the reasons that Pete Carroll was so good there.

Didn't they offer Peterson the job before Sark but he turned it down in favor of Washington?

Dude... Seriously?

Whiskey already touched on it, but rumors went around that USC declined on Petersen, and it was also said that Petersen walked away and took Washington instead. In either case, USC probably goofed and should have tried to convince Petersen to come on board. When you consider what he did at Boise State with less talent I would hate to think what he would do at USC.

As far as USC's next head coach, someone already said it in another thread, but Joey Freshwater would be a fantastic hire:
