Brian Kelly has moved players to different positions pretty much since he got here. He has made some smart position switches (Niklas, KVR, Tillery, etc.) but the Prosise switch is quickly becoming his best one yet. Hopefully Brent can have similar results.
Was Tillery actually a position switch? It seems like he was always destined for the defensive line from day one. It was only the recruiting services that had him pegged as OL, not the staff.

Harrison Smith would like to have a word.

Only thing about Harrison, is that Kelly inherited him as a player who had ping-ponged back and forth between safety and outside linebacker.

So when Kelly came in he put everyone on notice that the only place Harrison would play was at safety.

And in those days Kelly got Harrison some special attention from Chuck Martin, who straightened out his game, and helped him build confidence.

So I think Harrison, in a lot of ways is maybe BK's most successful development project. But CJ couples BK's knack to move a player to a new position, and shows stunningly rapid development.

But Mathias Farley would like a word.

He was coming in as an OT until after his senior season when they had a word with his coach.

Did you guys notice as the game went on Prosise was getting fired up and looked like he was calling for the ball? Feed the beast and it will be good!

I really hope that he is back next year.

Some people will say yes, some will say no. If he was an o-lineman at Notre Dame right now he would be collecting dust on the sideline this year and potentially next year as well. And who knows what our interior d-line would look like right now with Jay Hayes acting like a little kid the last few days

For best position switch during the Kelly era?? I know that he's a captain but that's saying a lot for a guy that has struggled in open field tackling during his time at ND, has struggled in one-on-one coverage during his time at ND, and is only starting now because of an injury

I certainly understand your post. Kelly actually switched (not switched back) his position. But I think he is in the conversation, because of one simple fact.

Ask yourself the question, "How much play time would Mathias Farley ever have seen as a wide receiver at Notre Dame?"

James Onwualu would like to have a word.

*CJ is a 4.4 flat if not faster forty man.

Bogs,

It's obviously not scientifically impossible but only two 230ish lb players have run a sub 4.4 in the last 10 years of the NFL combine. Some guy who never played in the NFL and KC's 227lb Knile Davis from Arkansas. If I were a betting man...

That's a fair point but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Yes, Onwualu is pretty good at sticking to his assignment and doesn't make too many mistakes but he hasn't "wowed" me yet. While CJ has probably made me say "wow" about a half dozen times in the first 3 games in his first year at a new position.

And that's a good question that you asked about Mathis playing WR. If Toma could be an almost every down player, I'm fairly confident that Farley could get at least a little playing time at receiver

The competition that Farley would face for playing time at WR is in a total different stratosphere from what Toma faced.

You aren't seriously suggesting that a guy who isn't even a starter is THE BEST position switch Kelly has instituted in his time here?

If Alford was still at ND we would be talking all about how much credit he deserves, yet now; not a whisper about Denson.

Best position switch? What about Tommy Rees? Came here as a ball boy and left as starting quarterback of the Notre Daem Fighting Irish.

The team had 457 yards rushing (9 ypc) in this game and that includes a -20 yard play. I would say Autry and Harry are doing alright.

Alford was a good recruiter and "father figure". He apparently couldn't teach RBs to pass block. He was an overrated coach.

Prosise has been amazing, but man I wish we still had Folston. Behind this OL tackling him would've been like tackling f*cking Nightcrawler.

I swear it looks like he was born to play running back. Don't know how he never played it in high school.

Catch Kelly's Post Game PC. Question was asked about Prosise and Kelly complimented his natural talents then turned to Denson's coaching. High praise.

Kelly didn't metion it but we had 2 - 100+ yd rushers. Three ball carriers had runs of 50+ yds (I don't recall seeing that happen before). Every ball carrier average over 5 ypc except Kizer who was 4.67.

AND did you catch the block Adams through on a blitzer? He didn't look like a freshman.

I feel like Prosise has better speed and vision than Folston, I'm sure Folston would also be tearing it up right now but Prosise is near perfect with our dominant offensive line

Agree. Folston wouldn't have had as many explosive plays but he may have been better in short yardage. Our OL is so dominant that Prosise is better since there is so much room. GAIII where you at?

Agree Prosise has more top end speed. But Folston has better vision, quickness and the unique ability to jump cut.
