Dude. The crown of the defender's helmet hit him right in the facemask as he was sliding. That is the definition of bad.

I disagree, it looks like his shoulder hit him in the head. That is why the refs overturned the ejection.

Looks to me like his shoulder hit him in the shoulder, and the crown of his helmet hit him in the facemask. If he wasn't ejected, the ref should be fired. The guy did everything bad that they are trying to take out of the sport - he led with his head, he launched, he hit a defenseless player who was giving himself up. Just all-around bad to me.

Yeah, refs indicated it was the shoulder. The problem with these plays is the defender is coming in full speed to tackle a guy who has been running quite a bit (already had one TD run). If he tries to tackle him at waist level and at the last second the QB slides, he ends up contacting his head.

I actually thought it almost looked like the defender was trying to stop himself when he saw that Gunner was sliding. Seemed to rise up instead of driving through.

ETA: But it's bang-bang and the lift up might be a result of the hit. Hard for me to tell.

He was ejected by the ref on the field (targeting is an automatic ejection) but the replay ref overruled it.

I think it should be a penalty for late hit, but that's not an ejection. The more I see it, the more it looks like his head had nothing to do with it and he turns his body to put his shoulder into it.

Regardless of where he hit him or what he hit him with, Kiel's head still goes flying down, smashing into the turf.

Sounds like more drama queen antics from Gunner. Never went to hospital...evaluated in locker room all movement fine

They showed him being put into an ambulance on a stretcher. He didn't end up going to hospital?

Thats what they just reported during the game. I have seen him do the no movement...in a coffin thing 3 times this year. I don't want to see the guy hurt by any stretch but he's either soft or quite an actor.

Kidding you how?

Calling him a drama queen is just ridiculous. Even if he didn't have to go to the hospital, he may well have lost some movement initially. And the head certainly snapped. You don't have any of the information that the athletic trainers and docs have.

Just ugly.

This is worse than the shit they have been calling targeting this season...and way worse than the one that got Tuitt ejected...IF THE DEFENDER IS COMMITTED, AND THE OFFENSIVE PLAYER BRINGS THEIR HEAD INTO THE HIT, shouldn't it be the offensive player's fault?

as I stated in the gameday thread during the GT game. Procise was hindered in the 1st half by targeting at least 3 times and no call.. This targeting rule is like a woman....

Obviously you heard wrong because they just reported he is at university hospital.

Obviously i did NOT...it's what was stated during the in game broadcast. If they were wrong...so be it. They stated he was being evaluated in the locker room and had NOT went to the hospital.

Huh? What do you mean that Procise was hindered in the 1st half by targeting? A RB is only defenseless if he is being held up by the defense and then hit in the head (unless he is catching the ball) and that is pretty damn rare. It is only targeting if the player is defenseless. Care to elaborate?

The thing that bothers me about this hit is that it seems pretty clear the defender was prepared for the slide and turned to deliver a lick. That is, it wasn't as though he was caught mid-air / at the last moment diving to tackle his knees and Gunner slid into the hit, rather, the defender turned and lowered himself knowing Gunner was going into a slide.

Am I seeing this wrong?

If he bothers you so much, why watch?
