Going to see him and Javon tonight vs. Orange Lutheran.
I won't complain if Chacho ends up at ND. Are there more athletic guys with higher ceilings on ND's radar? Probably. Are there others who might jump on the bandwagon as they watch the Pat Forde's of the world putting the Irish at the #2 seed for this year's playoffs? Maybe.
If he does end up in South Bend, I'll be happy the Irish are getting an excellent combination of RKG, a proven leader even surrounded by Type A, 5 Star recruits and of course, an accomplished & tested athlete. His measurables don't blow you away but his Sparq Certified 4.59 - 40 and 35" vert prove he's no bum. He's the Peanut Tillman of high school football. TO's happen when he's around. Intercept Tate Martell, Josh Rosen, Blake Barnett? No problem. Strip Trevon Sidney or Jack Jones? Ditto. 19 forced or recovered fumbles and interceptions and it's just two games into his senior season.
He's a lot like DJ Morgan, he's lined up against as good as you can compete with everyday of his football career. Whether it's Javon in practice, Javon, Jack Jones, JP Shohfi & others in 7v7 practice and the rest of the Cali WR's in 7v7 games or high school games where 8 of Centennial's 14 games were against national Top 25 teams including the co-national champs, Bishop Gorman and De La Salle and the then #3 team St. John Bosco.. Throw in a 9th game against Blake Barnett and Chacho has been tested by talent that the average ND recruit will only see either at the US Army All-Star game or not until they arrive in South Bend.
You can't lose with a guy like Chacho. Everybody's a guess to some point. There's been 5 star disappointments an walk on mega success in recent years in South Bend. Hell, Scooby Wright was a 2 star recruit. Too slow, no competition, blah, blah blah. I'll take his body of work especially considering who it's come against, his leadership among all stars and his polish in front of the camera as a sign that this kid is going to be a cornerstone of any program he ends up at.
