I couldn't be more impressed with what this run first, dual threat QB has done in 2 starts. A little over 100 yards so far, to be honest, I thought it would be more(?) Maybe he's not that good of a runner after all?

What has to be addressed is all of the Golson the passer vs Zaire the runner mythology. Malik has come out and thrown for 31-37... 409 yds... 4 TD and 0 TO's. It must be noted that 4 of the 6 incompletions hit the receiver in the hands and a fifth incompletion was due to the target stopping his route. So his only bad pass was the bomb against LSU. No QB in ND history has had a two game run like that. 99.something% of all QB's to ever play this game haven't had two back to back games like this, especially when you consider it was against Texas and LSU's talented defenses.

I've said I thought Malik would be very comparable to what JT Barrett was like last year, well as of now his efficiency is near perfection and it's even better than Barrett. His efficiency has allowed the Irish to run the ball 50 times each of the his two starts. If the Irish run the ball 50 times every game, they will go undefeated.

jojoblack and the real jojoblack were right all along.

This is super common.

There's plenty of stories about 49er receivers having a tough job getting used to Steve Young after Joe. Add to that a really strong arm and it's two things guys just aren't used to.

I'm pretty sure everyone's up to it though.

The zzip.. Good recall

No thanks. I think this is where people missed the mark with Golson. He'd get all this credit for digging us out of holes that he dug in the first place. I'd just as soon NOT see those shit situations at all.

You think we're just going to steam roll everyone on the schedule? C'mon man. Zaire is going to be tested this year.

Quit acting like the rest of the team didn't shit all over themselves last year. The defense and special teams dug some giant holes you seem to be forgetting.

Actually, go back and look at the games. This dude averaged a LOST fumble a game (12 on the year). Those weren't the rest of the team. Zaire will be tested, but half of Golson's issue wasn't "being tested", he was his own worst enemy.

He wasn't perfect, I agree. But he certainly wasn't the only one out there with a shovel.

He put us in shitty situations against Stanford while the rest of the team played well. I'll give you that one.

The defense was an absolute joke against UNC.

His two INTs vs FSU were largely irrelevant. The defense just couldn't stop Winston in the second half.

The offensive line play against ASU was a joke and Robinson owns the pick that sealed the game.

Cam and CBrown both had brutal fumbles against NW and the special teams missed two very makeable field goals.

We were down two scores to L'Ville before EG turned the ball over and then special teams misses a 32 yarder to tie the game.

USC was brutal for everyone.

I'm happy the change was made and wanted Zaire to QB this team but EG's turnovers were not our only issue last year. Far from it.

But you can't have a brain dead - quitter at QB in football...or at PG in basketball. Haven't you learned anything from the Bulls and Bears over the last half decade?

I agree with you on everything except the "Far from it" line. Golson's turnovers weren't the only issue last year but they were a major part of our losses. Even if we allow him one TO/game average, he went 8 over and he didn't play the majority against USC/LSU. That's awful.

Nah man, didn't even watch them. I did catch the the 2012 ND season. It was crazy. They ran the table with a brain dead quitter at QB.

Fair enough. My point was that we had several players shitting all over my Saturdays last year.

Just realized he's only a redshirt sophomore. Could and should have 2 more years of Zaire and then 2 years of Wimbush. With that and our recruiting we really shouldn't go under 9-3 in that span. Exciting time to be a ND fan guys.

I still believe in Reesus.

Maybe I need to quote from the Book of Zaire, it's been awhile since I've written new scripture.

Book of Irish, Chapter 125

53 Reesus said, “And when you cheer your team, do not be like the Wolverines, for they love to jingle their car keys, throw beer on opposing fans, and sleep with large women. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in STDs. But when you cheer, go into the House that Rockne built, cheer loudly for those that represent the university, and perform many pushups after each touchdown. Then your coach, who sees the replay on NBC, will reward you. And when your band plays, do not allow them to play their Fight Song after every play like Trojans, for they are talentless and bore me to tears. Do not be like them, as Southern Cal is a dumpster fire and their coach is silly.

“This, then, is how you should cheer:"

54 “‘Our coach who art on the sidelines,
hallowed be your assistant, Diaco,
your practice come,
your plays be done,
in South Bend as they are on the road.
Give us this win, with our daily beer.
And forgive us our penalties,
as we take the yards from those that cause penalties against us.
And lead us not into temptation with USC Song Girls,
but deliver us from evil Nick Saban.’

Reesus-Letters to Mark May, 12:17
The path of the Notre Dame man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the SEC and the tyranny of the NCAA. Blessed is he who, in the name of academics and athletics, shepherds the weak through the valley of Saturday Advertisements. For he is truly his Notre Dame brother's keeper and the finder of Our lady Victory. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my Notre Dame brothers. And you will know I am Reesus when I lay 300 + yards and a rushing TD upon you.

Top 15 quarterback debuts of the 2015 season

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...back-debuts-of-the-2015-season-164121713.html

2. Malik Zaire, Notre Dame

Zaire entered the 2015 season with one start under his belt (Music City Bowl) and high expectations. After edging Everett Golson for the starting job in the spring, Zaire continued his breakout season with a sharp performance in the opener against Texas. He completed 19 of 22 throws for 313 yards and three scores and rushed for 16 yards. Additionally, five of Zaire’s completions went at least 20 yards or more.
