As I've said all along Zaire is there real dealnothing against Goldson personality but he is simply not better than Zaire. that's the last time and only time I'll mention Goldson because he is no longer a player for the Fighting Irish..... With all that said Zaire is goning Tobe before its all said and done one of the best ever here at Notre Dame..... Mark my words.... And he will take us to a National Championship.

I wasn't here when you participated on the boards last time, but it's great to have you back. A natty would be incredible, let's see if we have the horses around him to pull the carriage that far.

Ya'll need to get off the man's nutz... even if they did spawn the savior. ;-)

To be fair, Goldson was never a part of the team, so no offense would be taken. That said, welcome back - Malik is a STUD!

He shows a lot of poise while leading the offense. Plus you can really tell that he loves being out there, leading this team. He displays that infectious personality that makes you want to try just hard as he is.

Good to see you're still around! So glad the Zaire era has begun.

I don't know if this was mentioned but he did a great job of setting his feet for his throws. Credit to Sanford but it's nice to see.

Receivers were juggling the football quite a bit on Saturday. Not sure if it was just coincidence or Malik throwing bullets down the field. Either way, I agree.
Kelly said something about the receivers being affected by the opposite rotation of a left-handed ball. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

This is super common.

There's plenty of stories about 49er receivers having a tough job getting used to Steve Young after Joe. Add to that a really strong arm and it's two things guys just aren't used to.

I'm pretty sure everyone's up to it though.

I certainly like what Zaire has done in the last two games, but he hasn't faced any on field issues. I want to see him lead this team from a deficit before I anoint him the next savior.

He did look good though!

I posted in the post game thread, but I'll drop it here too.

I had a close friend text me yesterday. He said:

Hey get us to an ND game this season...I'd like to see your bad ass QB in person. No joke...dude looked the real deal last night.

This is an avid UofM fan. Doesn't usually ever have a positive thing to say about ND football.

No thanks. I think this is where people missed the mark with Golson. He'd get all this credit for digging us out of holes that he dug in the first place. I'd just as soon NOT see those shit situations at all.

This. I'd rather have a consistent QB that doesn't need late game heroics multiple times a season. Play smart from the start, adjust to what the opposition is giving you and win the turnover battle, it's that simple. People point to the Stanford game last year, Pitt in 2012, and say "Look how good Golson was at the end." Yeah, but look at the first 3 to 3 1/2 quarters at how "meh" or bad he was before that.

Here is my funny story. In 2009 I got a job at a residential treatment facility. There was a teacher named Mr Z. He was one of the stricter teachers and all the kids respected him and his rules. He was always watching sports center and talking up his sons football skills. In those days I just kind of rolled my eyes as everyone talks about their kids. I moved away to Indiana in 2011. I get a text from an old coworker who is a USC fan and tells me Mr Z's son might be going to Ohio State but is visiting Notre Dame. I message Mr Z and in fact his son, Malik, was visiting. He said that he just wants to know if he has a fair shake at playing QB there. He also said that he was not feel'n what Urby was selling at OSU. Sounded as if he just wanted to know he was being recruited as a QB and not an "Athlete." Mr Zaire and I exchange emails from time to time about his son and Notre Dame's success this season. They are loving every minute of the season thus far.

Bet Mr. Z is proud this week. Bowl game victory to end last season and trouncing Texas to start this one
