Per his twitter he's announcing on June 24th. He's been in very close contact with Gilmore, every other day according to his father. However, if he doesn't make it back to campus prior to the announcement, I see little chance the choice is ND.

ACCORDING TO 247 there is a lil michigan info related to this..so not good most likely

Lorenz thinks that its good news, he's coming off a strong visit to UM and set an announcement date. He does say that he could still visit ND but that it looks good for UM. I hate Lorenz but as of now I have to agree. Hopefully he visits for II and we can get some momentum back.

i posted in another thread last night...but according to JOSH HELMHOLDT as of late last night he was very torn on his decision...Coach D asked why he was stuck to this date to announce but never did get an answer at least on the board from Josh who is as plugged into his recruitment as anyone per rivals people...i guess he has a good relationship w/ the family and Gilmore has given the father and Khalid a lot to think about....andrew at rivals said "it looks like this commitment might not be final"

he announces today at 230...here is the link for anyone CommitCast: ESPN 300 defensive end Khalid Kareem - On The Trail - ESPN

I read this last night and thought that it came out of left field. I thought we were totally out of the running with him.

So consensus of most likely...

1. UM
2. MSU
3. ND

Is that about right?

according to the latest

1 UM
2A BAMA
2B ND

FROM COACH D: sources he trust told him that ND did slow play him a bit after he visited in March and then they got back on him, but the window where they could have got him to pop had passed

per wiltfong---believes it to be bama or um

said as of last night family hadn't finalized a decision and sounds like sources on both sides aren't sure as of this morning.

To be fair, maybe the staff felt that his commitment wouldn't stick anyway because he was so interested in Bama and UM. So rather than get a shitty commitment, wait and keep putting in work?

Ah hell I don't know.

Then why commit at all? This kid seems to want to rush the process far faster than it needs to be. Hence, his three day commitment to MSU. They would all seemingly benefit from taking a step back and evaluating a timeline. He is a primetime player and will have a spot on any of the teams he is interested in.

The whole thing just doesn't make sense.

Coach D asked the rivals reporter Josh that and never responded...so not sure...it def doesn't make sense as this has flip all over it regardless..

I'm late to this party but yes yes yes to everything you are saying. WTF is he setting an arbitrary date, and then putting pressure on himself to decide by this arbitrary time, when as of this morning he is still undecided??? Seriously, you're right...it makes absolutely no sense.

Kid, just WAIT. I don't know even care about giving ND more time to maybe get in on this; I'm talking about watching a kid foolishly rush into a decision, when the only one rushing him (presumably) is himself. And if a school is rushing you right now, you're good enough to tell them to eff off or wait like everyone else.

At this point... maybe a poor choice is best for the Irish. If they are running 3rd now, they'll look a lot better with 10+ wins come All Star time when all the kids want to shine or on NSD when they have a table full of hats in front of them.

If I wasn't so excited to watch MZ direct my favorite style of college football, I'd be tempted to hit FF just to watch the recruits throw themselves at the staff's feet come REAL decision time.

Unless it's all part of Harbaugh's plan. Get him to commit to Bama, then have him flip to UM. Use this example to other recruits that Michigan is hotter than anyone, including Bama. /s

I was hoping that, if not ND, he'd go State. I enjoy Michigan suffering as much as I enjoy ND doing well. I know State's on the future schedule, but Kelly has Dantonio figured out.

Recruiting is such a clusterf*ck this year. I don't think I would trade any recruiting class ND has had for anyone elses since Kelly arrived. Sure, I would love to cherry pick certain players to fill holes in each class but for the most part, Kelly and Co. Have done an admirable job identifying and bringing in top young talent. This year? I don't see it. They get questioned for their work ethic and tactics on a consistent basis. Fewer elite recruits are mentioning ND as a possible destination.

After the way our last 2 seasons have gone (especially the end of last year) it's hard for recruits to get too excited. Momentum is not on our side. Additionally, the local teams are on the rise, defending champion OSU, on the rise MSU, a UM that is going through a massive re-branding with great personnel (doesn't mean they will be successful, but it builds a lot of hype for 1-3 years), while nothing major has changed at ND for recruiting purposes. Since making the 2012 championship game we have: been blown out on national tv, had one of the all-time great players of ND dragged through the mud (Teo), had top recruits leave/transfer, had our top qb suspended, a disappointing 2013 season, a bunch of players suspended for academics in '14, a disappointing 2014 season, a bad year at the draft, and add to all of this that with ND's partial commitment to the ACC that it seems nearly impossible for ND to play for a national championship or a big bowl game. But all of this will be a wash if the boys can start and finish strong this year. The schedule isn't easy, but it's not impossible. If ND goes at least 10-2 in the regular season and win a bowl game then I think 2017 will be an incredible recruiting year and we will get a few big names for 2016 as well. We're experiencing a slow-down, while others around us are going through a change. We just have to show that we can play and get players drafted (and we will: Stanley, Day, KVR, Fuller, Jaylon, Schmidt, and hopefully a few others will be high draft picks)
