It's encouraging that Malik saw or sensed the incoming ball in time to have it bounce off his shoulder rather than his face. In spite of the ball coming from the opposite direction.

Action Awareness.

Damn revisionists. His shoulder wasn't involved. The ball hit the left corner of his forehead.

BTW, for a lefty QB that's not the blindside (opposite direction).

This is ND, the only players who have the ball bounce of their shoulders are WRs and DBs...

Look again, my friend. Lefty, righty, centrist, anarchist; the point is that I see him ducking and the ball hitting him on the shoulder.

Had I the computer savvy, the inclination and the internet fight mentality I'd import the video and then freeze frame (or at least provide a super slo-mo replay) to bolster my observation and supposition.

I suggest that we meet in the announcers booth and discuss it further over a few pints of Guinness.

I'm sure you DO see the ball hitting him on the shoulder. I've read years of your posts in the Lep Lounge. Your mind's eye saw what you wanted it to see.

Unfortunately, if you click on the video (you don't need computer savvy, I did it.) just after the mini-Rees thrown ball hits the red frame, the time delay of your reaction will stop the video and the ball just above or hitting's Malik's head (probably for most people, in your case the video may be over). Malik looks up as the ball approaches contact with his head. shoulders are squared (good form) and neither comes close to touching the ball. It may take a few attempts but the ball does strike him on the left corner of his forehead.

You should know by now I don't shoot from the hip (or in this case shoulder) I confirm than post.

See'ya in the booth.

(I never envisoned dshans wearing a rug. It is Hammondesque.)

What's a farhead, opposite of a nearhead?

... dshans is a revisonist dribbler NOT a bumbler.

T'other way around. I've been a bit of a bumbler all my life. I played b-ball in the school yard and my driveway. When I hit ND and tried pick-up games at "The Rock," playing against members of the football team and Mr. Basketballs from one state or another I gave it up.

At 5'7" I was a garden gnome and no Spud Webb. After two split lips and one broken pair of glasses I stuck to handball. Being built low to the ground was something of an advantage.

I think "driveler" is more apt than dribbler or bumbler. All three might well apply, though.

I still think that Malik reacted in time to keep his schnoz, chin and cheek out of harm's way.

I admit that I'm used to 30 frames per second in stop action review, but it seems to come down to perspective and perception.

Really? that's pretty cool, my home county of Cavan is a hotbed for the sport. What game did you play, 40x20 or 1 Wall?

See the wizards photo.

Q.E.D.

That screen grab neither proves nor disproves anything. Do note the relative sizes of the ball and his head. The ball is closer to the camera than Malik. We need a reliable eyewitness.

A notarized statement from the victim would help.

40x20. After I graduated college I wound up playing racquetball since no one I knew wanted to harm their dainty hands.

Nice one! My wife has a cousin who plays in Michigan, it is always interested to hear that people grew up playing the sport in the States. Paul The Gunner Brady (US/World Champion on numerous occasions) is from the parish over from where i grew up.

The ball deflected off of the apparatus in a fashion that was almost TOO perfect. The magic bullet?????

After further analysis, I'm pretty sure it hits him in the head AND the shoulder (dun dun duuuuun). It glances off his face on a downward trajectory but then he pops it back up with his shoulder when he turns away.
