Our recruiting seems to be constipated this cycle. Any idea why this is the case and what could be the laxative we need to get things moving?

I think it's a combination of poor planning and being picky. We could have more kids in this class right now if we wanted to but the staff wants to wait it out. They are being very deliberate in putting together their board and I think that's for two reasons. 1. It's a small class and they don't want to miss or take kids early if they could have better prospects later. 2. Like posted in other threads, I think the staff is really confident in the upcoming season which will help with point one.
It has been increasingly frustrating in the short term but like stated above I expect things to pick up at and after II. There are a few guys that I think we can close around that time period. One being Studstill who I'd be ecstatic to land.
Post of the week. Exactly. You don't sell your stock in Q1 & Q2 when you know you are going to have a great Q3 and Q4.
Is Storm really that much of a Debbie Downer or just the most subtle troll in history? The next positive thing out of his mouth, will be his first.
.
By "we" do you mean Notre Dame or Michigan State?

I am not a MSU fan at all. It annoys me that they have eclipsed us as a program. Its not trolling. It's a fact. They have won 11 games in four of the last 5 years. We have won 11 games once in the last 5 years. They are winning rose and cotton bowls. We are winning pinstripe.and music city bowls.
I don't say these things gleefully. I say them to illustrate how our program has fallen behind regional powers now as well as national powers. Some things need to change or its Ivy league time.

So ND basketball has surpassed Carolina as a basketball program?
What do they have to show for it? A loss to ND in 2013 that killed any chance of them getting to the NC. A loss in 2012 when ND went to the NC, a beatdown in South Bend during the 2011 season.. They are a regional power. They've had a good run at turning 3 star guys into NFL players. Cook leaves this year and next year will be a backslide. Zaire is here for 3 years and the Irish are set. Stanford had the same run a few years ago and they are back to being just a good team again. Sparty will suffer the same fate.
So what they are having a little luck with midwest guys EARLY in the cycle. ND wins no less than 10 games and still beats their class. Bet.
When the sun rises tomorrow the Yankees will still the Yankees, the Patriots will still be the Patriots and ND will still be ND.

You brought in so many different sports metaphors I am dizzy and my head hurts. But I agree with your sentiment.
But what I think is funny is that Kelly went into detail describing why and how small this class was going to be, and how they were not going to push to fill up early, and many are still crapping pavers.

While this is true in the big picture, they are missing or falling behind on guys that they really want. Robertson, King, Mack, Corley, and Kareem are all guys they want right now. Maybe better put this way, no reason to jump off a bridge but DEFINITELY not going according to plan as of now.
This.
And I think my digestive metaphor was solid. Reps please.
I would respectfully like to not be grouped in with a majority of your thoughts because I come out on the other side of most of your posts, that I've read.
So the general consensus by most posters on here is Sparty is a crap team with crap players in a crap league that has no business in the same D1 level as ND?
Some of you act like if a 7 win team beats an 11 win team during the regular season than they are the better program. It just means that one team was better than the other on that particular day. I look at the entire body of work.
And for those who think the big ten is so weak, didn't we just lose to Northwestern last season? Hasn't lowly Purdue given us all we can handle lately? 11 wins in 4 out of 5 years. Rose Bowl and Cotton bowl victories. That's not smoke and morrors. I don't care as much about head to head victories as much as season records. I'll bet the recruits don't either at the end of the season.
