I will be overjoyed with shock and admiration if this guy is Irish given the depth we have. #Fearless

If he was Irish, the other QB's when he got here would be Zaire, Kizer, and Wimbush. I say we have a lot of depth from a potential standpoint, but those 3 are very unproven. If he believes in his game, there should be no reason for him not to come and try to challenge those guys.

They are I agree unproven. They are a highly rated group however with one of them leading the team to a bowl victory over a SEC team. Most kids say they are not afraid of competition but depth is a huge factor in a big % of top tier guys. Yes Bama can take studs all day without concern of depth but they have the hardware of late to back it up. My comment speaks more about his attitude and confidence should he pick ND given our struggles the last several years while considering perceived existing talent.

Plus it sounds like 2017 top tier about Hunter likes us a lot too

Per TV, this will probably come down to playing time. Meaning that if he feels it's best to go some place and develop we'll have a really good shot. If what he wants is to walk on campus and be the man, it'll be Maryland or Rutgers.

Probally helps Florida didn't take a QB last year

Outside of ND there seems to be a common theme with early PT being very important. I think we've done a good job of conveying the difference, now it's just up to him to decide what's most important.

Early play time is not totally out of the question is it? There are questions about all the QBs on the roster and he has a pretty unique skill set. If he does not want to earn his spot, maybe Florida is a better option. Shame if this is how it plays out though ... I would really like to see him in south bend.

Well regardless of what happens this year with Zaire/Golson. I think Zaire has locked up starting post 2015 for 2 years.

Also, I wouldn't pass too much judgement yet as he's clearly taking ND seriously with the understanding that development and academics might be the best way to go.

Over the weekend he told Rob Cassidy at Rivals that his timeline for decision is now June.

You never know. Certainly Zaire would have a leg up, but there are some that come in and earn the spot as a freshman. It's rare, but not impossible.

This amazes me. You think Zaire has locked up two years of starting no matter what happens this year? I could imagine a number of scenarios where Zaire shits the bed and we're left with yet another controversy looming in '16. Kizer will be two years in, Wimbush will have the redshirt off. It just seems like 1.5 games of playing time that was interspersed with Golson doesn't give many data points for that kind of projection.

I hope you are right because that means we have a winner on our hands. Zaire is easy to root for.

I suppose I could have chosen my words more carefully but I think the point is the same. I see very very little chance that Zaire isn't the starter in 16' and 17'.

The only scenario I come up with is injury or off the field issues and maybe I should have put that in the original post. I was just making the point that Zaire has clearly shown enough that he's either 1A or 1B at this stage and there is absolutely nothing to make me think that changes. Keep in mind that I'm not aboard the Zaire savior train that some are, I just view this as a no brainer.

Ryan Bartow at 247 has an update with Haskins. Not much new there other than Bama is really pushing hard for him. None other than Lupoi and Kiffin getting after him every day. Good news is he continues to mention ND as a school that he will visit again before he makes his decision.

Then he claims he's a package deal with everyone in the country. This guy is easily one recruit I could see us landing and having kids out of know where be interested in us. Or maybe he is just all talk, either way I want Haskins

Coaches will be on the road this week and next visiting players. Sanford will be in to visit Haskins. We're really pushing for Haskins, per 247 but it sounds like Rutgers and Maryland are still out in front.

Haha, I should've kept reading before posting. Wiltfong posted that he believes he could commit to Maryland or Rutgers within the next week.
