Good for them and well deserved, they all had long productive careers on respectable teams.

I still think the MLB is messing up not letting Rose into the hall though!

Ridiculous that the greatest hitting catcher of all-time fell short. Piazza needed 75% but received 69.9%.

Pretty pissed the Red Sox got Moncada. They are building a monster system up in Beantown.

ESPN NY is saying Yanks top offer was 25. Said they'd consider 27. They are also saying it seems clear Cashman wanted Moncada and wanted to go higher, but Hal said no.

Apple fell far from the tree it seems.

The Yankees surprised me by their passivity in the FA market this offseason. They really need starting pitching yet didn't seem seriously connected to Lester, Scherzer or Shields.

They did sign 10 of the top 30 internationals this period not including Moncada, Tomas, etc., but yeah I agree they seem to have completely changed course on mode of operations. I like that they aren't spending huge on long contracts for players already in their 30's - they are what is killing us right now (CC and Tex especially).

I wish though that they would use their full financial might where they can to really capitalize where they can have a big advantage. Letting Moncada and Castillo go to the Sox, and Puig, Guerrero and others to the Dodgers is a tough pill to swallow for Yankee fans who remember the days of George.

Opening day is such epic win... Tomorrow should be a national holiday.

...Wow, I know it was just one game, but the White Sox did not inspire much optimism. God were they awful. Horrible hitting, horrible pitching, horrible defense and horrible managing. Just all-around horrible. Rebuilt White Sox have blown an engine at the starting gate...smfh...

This, on top of the Hawks losing to the Blues yesterday where they couldn't buy a goal and the Bulls falling to the Cavs on the road, it's been a pretty sh*tty 2 days for Chicago sports.

Eagles missed the playoffs/ don't start for another 5 months, Flyers missed the playoffs, the sixers are the sixers, and the Phillies season is over on Opening Day.

Yay

Too early to go into meltdown mode, but definitely a rough start.

Considering how poorly our #2 and #3 pitcher performed, I'd say have the meltdown button on standby. It's pretty sad when Danks had a better outing than Shark or Quintana. The offense was also spotty at best. Getting swept by a division foe is never an acceptable outcome, but the opening series just raises the level of concern. We still have 159 games left, but on the other hand...we still have 159 games left.

Astros are batting .096 through 3 games, lowest BA by team through 3 games in MLB's modern era (since 1900)

This one is funny because it is early in the season but A. Gonzalez is on pace to hit 270 HRs this year.

Tigers had 24 straight shut out innings vs twins. OUCH.

lots of time left before we need to panic. the team is built for the long haul. they'll get it turned around.

Cubbie fans took one on the chin today. Bryant going 0-4 and then they got screwed with that bad call on what should have been a strikeout. I literally said, "watch him go deep now"... Then BOOM.

Ol Shark was dealing for the Sox today. Looked real good.
