Wrong you are.

This is not proper Yoda syntax.

Dshans! That should be, "Proper Yoda syntax, this is not."

This,
Over this, Any day,... Sorry wooly is too pussy to handle anything other than 'cheese and oils'... His problem...

I choose to omit the pics. One is clearly a pre-baked, over loaded something-or-other. The other takes up far too much screen real estate and represents a baked "pie" with the naturally occurring oils in cheese.

I was first introduced to "Chicago Style Deep Dish" pizza in 1970 or 1971 in Piper's Alley.

Here's a little something I found:

"This crust was strong and positively bathed in olive oil –– that’s what made it so damn good –– that and the rich sauce and thick, browned molten cheese. It was a grand, heroic pizza."

I ate it ravenously. I was young, hungry and in the the throes of cannabis induced "munchies." Times and my palate have changed.

Like most culinary delights do, and especially in America due to its need to adapt, pizza has evolved from its primitive ancestors. I love a good Neopolitan as much as the next guy, which was even once just Phoneician flatbread with oil.

Chicagoans have added their particular flair to it in girth and method of preparation but for perspective, when I was in Italy, I could not find a pepperoni to save my life.

All in all its still a piece of "Pie" no matter how you slice it.

I found that the diavola pizza was closest to pepperoni but superior. Spicy and oh so delicious.

On the deep dish argument: I find it to be so different than other kinds of pizza that it is almost a different dish. It all comes down to personal preference, but I prefer the thinner variety (no cardboard, please) most of the time. I remember back in Scouts, one of our favorite things to make was a dish called Bubble Pizza. Essentially it's deep dish pizza, which is perfectly hearty to recover and fill us up after a long day.

However, I detest any thin crust that skimps on ingredients; especially when the ingredients aren't great quality anyways.

I also love the one defending chi town pizza is the guy who has never been there while all the chi towns peps says it sucks, is for unrefined palates and only tourists eat it. Good times

What is that in the top picture? This is a pizza discussion and that item has Jalapeno on it, therefore that's not pizza. If you put a mustache on the Mona Lisa, not only is it no longer the Mona Lisa... it's no longer art.

The second picture appears to be an Eye-talian quesadilla. Something you'd find in the freezer section of a 99 Cent Only store in California.

Speaking of Pizza and the mention of the original pies from Napoli.

Whiskey at ptk... Have either of you gone to Pomo in Scottsdale? If not, put it on your bucket list.

It's a mile north of the Scottsdale Plaza so it's easy to hit after the ND game watch.

Things I learned about people from Chi Town this week,

: they prefer grease and oil to flavor and ingredients, which leads me to conclude their taste buds are broken
: if someone likes a different style of pizza, they claim that style isn't pizza
: they really don't know much about quality food in general
: they shit all over their own pizza and say it isn't theirs

Been informative...

;)

Lived in Chi for 3 years. The pizza there is the bomb.com.

You, sir, may lick the inside of my rectum as that likely tastes as good as the abortion you consider pizza.

Now, I'm gonna go take a dip in the pool since its beautiful outside again... Then I'm gonna go get some real Cali pizza with jalapeños, and about ten other toppings... Enjoy the deep freeze.

You can get that in Chicago, ACamp. Chicago pizza isn't topped with just sausage. Though I could see how Bill Swerski's Super Fans would lead you to think that. That seems to be your impression of Chicago.

You've super late to the party brah... I LOVE chi town style pizza, prefer pan but can roll with thin crust bc theirs can handle toppings,... I tried to defend it against NYC style, which I really don't enjoy any version of, and all the chi town and mid western peps here have responded with a chorus of , 'chi town pizza sucks ass, you don't eat real pizza, toppings are for pussies, real pizza only has cheese and oil' rather than just accept people's taste vary.... That's where we are at.... You pretty much agree with me on this

So what's then concensus? Is pizza about the toppings or the delivery mechanism?

People in Chicago like lots of toppings: Choose any and or all from the following:

Sausage, Pepperoni, Green Peppers, Onion, Mushrooms, Garlic, Black Olives, San Marzano Tomatoes.

You DO NOT get Jalapeno, avocado, artichoke heart, fig, shishimi, nigiri, pomegranate, cauliflower or carnitas. Sorry but there are rules. What you eat, and I'm sure it's very good to you is not pizza, it's hot mess on bread. And that's ok.

Holy cow, I want that badly.

Yes you do. It's fantastic.

You forgot cock. Spicy cock

Funnier than Grayhammer in 2015. Well played.

Pizza experts aren't confined to polar climates.

Here's my current view of a pizza-less California landscape.

But if you are ever in Laguna Beach, the wings at the White House are world class and John who runs the joint is a RABID Irish fan from Indiana.
