Thanks. Alford sure seems like a guy that is hard to screw over. A very respectful guy that goes about his business with integrity.

Agree with this. I don't want to derail this thread and I have no idea how to start one so maybe someone else can if they feel this is worthy of its own. What does ND need to do to lock up Alford? Does he need to be an OC or Co-OC with a raise? Will he stay at ND until that opportunity presents itself? I feel he is key to our success moving forward and was real worried when CSU called.

Alford is key and has been key. I second your thoughts.

The Miami recruiter tweeted something about the weather in South Bend vs Miami and appeared to be directed to Coney. Alford called him out and Baez later deleted the tweet.
I have been tweet attacking him since.

I have been tweet attacking him since.

He took it down and had cordial responses back to Alford. So I don't know why you are attacking him about it. Hopefully you're not making ND fans look poorly with your tweets.

I'm pretty sure Golic hit him with a scoreboard tweet too. More importantly, welcome to Tevon. I get this weird feeling of pride when these kids get here early and get started. I really think he's going to be a good one here. Love that Alford tweet too.

He took it down because he got slammed by a lot of people...including some Miami fans.

SIAP, but he got bumped into ESPN's final 300, coming in at the 295th player in the country and the 20th ranked OLB.

"Coney has been on the fringe of the Rivals250 for most of the cycle and after an excellent senior season, he received a late invitation to the Under Armour Game. He took his opportunity and ran with it, outshining several of his higher-rated teammates during practice and then turning in a solid game performance as well. Coney moves very well in space and also has a nose for the ball and should have every opportunity to make an impact at Notre Dame." -- Woody Wommack, Southeast Recruiting Analyst

Huge jump and he enrolled early. He has a chance to earn minutes this year if he can pick up the defense and continue his development. Excited for this young man, I don't think I appreciated the commitment originally.

We were supposed to be done at 2 LB's in this class but the staff views him as too good of a prospect to pass up. I agree but it's interesting to think about when we're sitting here wondering why we didn't recruit more top S's when we were "full".

Maybe it eases moving Bilal to safety.

Bilal to safety? Thatd shock me more than if they moved Greg Bryant to safety.

ND needed linebackers bad in 2015. They got 3 LBs. I cant see or even justify moving a good prospect to a position he would never see the field at.

I don't understand why Bilal to safety would shock you? It was clearly stated by Bilal himself that the coaches told him he could play some Safety his head coach even said the same. Bilal played quite a bit of Safety for his HS team and did well. I don't think it would shock me at all. I think Bilal could do well at safety for us, kid is quick and doesn't have a lot of weight on him yet.

I can't speak for TP, but the main reason it would surprise me is that we already have players with similar skill sets as Bilal at safety. We need a FS type. Bilal would be in the same mold as Shumate and potentially Farrar - a big safety that is best at stepping down into the box and stopping the run. We need another center fielder type.

After watching Bilal's film, I have a hard time seeing him at another place than OLB. He has the potential to be spectacular there.
