Auguste and Jackson.

Obviously neither are ready, but its not like we haven't seen athletes make these decisions.

I'm 99.99999% sure Jackson is graduating from Notre Dame. I know a few people that are close with DJ, they would never encourage him to leave early.

Who knows about Auguste..

I remember when Carlton Scott left early. That was a horrible mistake.

God... the carlton scott decision was the worst.

And I hope they stay, but I'm willing to bet if nd makes a serious run in the tourney and they play lights out, they'll get that bad advice I'm talking about

Carleton Scott didn't leave early. He just decided not to stay for a 5th year. I agree it was not a good decision but none the less he stayed to graduation.

He left a year on the table. I think that's leaving early in most people's books unless you're a draftable talent.

I just hope this season translates into big time recruiting.

We're looking at the possibility of only one starter returning if some get the nba itch (or bad advice).

I don't think anyone but Grant will make an NBA roster right now. Remember there are only 2 rounds so you literally have to feel confident that you are one of the top 60 players in the country realistically to even get a shot at a nba roster. And thats not even considering foreign entries into the draft. Maybe Jackson plays his way into 2nd round contention but with his height he will have to do some spectacular things to get a serious shot. And Auguste, as vital he is to our team I dont think anyone has him anything near draftable right now. So we should get 3 starters back next year with Grant and Connaughton graduating.

Also recruiting might be little affected by this game. We've had big years in the past but I'm just not sure ND would even take a highly ranked player who had clear intentions of staying 1-2 years and jumping to the NBA. Maybe I'm wrong I honestly don't know but seems like we never even recruit them.

Can't say enough about Grant. ACC POY so far this season and potentially the Naismith winner.

If not him, than who? Seriously, who else?...I'm not so in tune with ACC hoops.

The Frosh from Duke is/was supposed to be good (Okalfer). And I'm sure Virginia has a stud or two, just haven't had a chance to watch.

I did get home in time to see the end of IU's embarrassment against purdue. Tom Crean's defense looks like a whore house...come on in and score.

No doubt a huge win. Anxious to see the rematch. That will tell us more about this team. I certainly like where we're heading.

What a game! These guys have moxie in spades.

Steve V getting the call on that three pointer is proof positive that this is a TEAM effort. Correctly labeled as a "glue" guy by Dickie V I think. Just when I wonder why he is out there, I see all the little things he does to keep us rolling. Won't put up big stats but kid has plenty of "it".

Grant told Vasturia a few minutes before that shot to be ready. Kid is quietly heads above the rest in reading the game and dissecting opportunities. Just WOW. I think of Carmelo Anthony willing his team in the NCAAs and it seems Grant has that same presence, gamer quality. Makes everyone around him that much better on top of being a phenomenal player himself.

Auguste riding pine never once looked like a whiny punk, head in the game pumping up his team. I would like to see him take it to the big men a little more and draw some fouls. Love the down the middle give and go. As our primary big man, dealing with foul trouble is going to continue to be a problem.

Colson - huge minutes, rebound laying on the ground was epic. Having an energetic big wingspan like that to throw at big men for 15 minutes a game is invaluable to take pressure off of Auguste. Love the energy, mid range jumper is going to open up a lot for him as he develops into a big time scorer for us over the next few years.

DJ took over when he thought we needed him to, when he turns on the green light LOOK OUT. Next year he will be a big time scorer and that is when his stock will skyrocket. So unselfish, so athletic. Really looks like a McD All American versus looking unsure and lost most of last year.

Patty C. - Pound for pound best rebounder in the country? Could be.

VJ - not a lot of minutes but I liked the drive. Never really got into the flow of the game. WTF on the free throw line? Looked like he had never been there before. Can't deny the kid's potential and any time he shoots a three the whole crowd is on their feet in anticipation.

Pure team effort all the way around. Easy to see VJ, DJ and SV growing into a solid core of the line up the next few years. Auguste and Colson make for a solid starting five next year and a few of the others should develop into a solid 7-8 deep.

I very rarely watch college BB, but I just happened to catch the first half of this game last night. I'd probably watch more often if they were always that exciting. You could tell the crowd/students were really into the game, loved the hustle we were showing at the beginning...seemed like Duke had 8 turnovers in the span of 2 minutes. Saw the 3 pointer from way, way back too, that was awesome. I didn't get to see the 2nd half, kinda wish I didn't have to leave at the time.

Him and Rozier are probably battling right now for that #2 PG spot behind Mudiay. #3 if you count Deangelo Russell as a PG i guess

I think Grant's game translates extremely well to the NBA for a few important reasons:

1. More spacing. This means he will be able to get off his own shot easier and can find open men.

2. Farther 3pt line. This makes him relatively more valuable than other guards. He has infinite range (as we saw last night)

3. 24 second clock. Grant is extremely quick and his conditioning is elite. He will be able to play huge minutes and run up and down the court with ease.

4. Experience without lack of upside. He will be able to contribute immediately to any team and doesn't need his game to be polished relative to other prospects. Yet he has huge upside due to his athleticism and potential to fill out his frame a little bit.

5. Clutch: The kid excels at the end of games. People forget about his heroics to tie the game against Louisville a couple years ago in that 5 OT game. Not afraid to take and make the big shot.

D'Angelo Russell for Ohio State.

Deangelo Russell isn't near the athlete Westbrook is. Half of what makes westbrook so great is that he is the fastest guy in the NBA. Deangelo Russell kinda reminds me of brandon roy

Wrong. Unless you have DVR and can forward frame by frame you won't see it.

No, not wrong. He blocked it clean and then Okafor pushes through the block and shoots it over the backboard. It should have been ND ball.

I don't think anyone but Grant will make an NBA roster right now.

DJ will be on an NBA roster someday. Auguste maybe. 6-10 big bodies get a chance because they are born with 5 fouls to give.

D'Angelo Russell is Russ Westbrook if he had better shot selection.

Do not use Russell and Westbrook in the same sentence. There is no comparison to them athletically. D Rose WAS in Westbrook's league before the injuries. Michael Westbrook is the fastest player to ever play with the ball in history. He isn't the best or even close to it but he's the undisputed fastest player ever.

He had us as the #9 team overall 3 days ago. Beating Duke doesn't push us to #8? Splitting hairs, but we really should've been a 2 seed

He still has us #9. He had a video today on ESPN about ND pretty much saying their OOC numbers are killing them, but that they are a great team.
