The reason I posted that was because I believe he could play FS. There are a lot of questions about his lack of ideal length for FS and ability to cover.
When I first saw tape of Devin Butler in high school, it screamed lanky free safety.

This.

I wouldn't look for any of the guys to leave their class.

All eyes should be on Farrar now.

Am I correct that Stanford is taking 4 safeties this year? You would think they are Bama instead of a middle of the pack team with that many top players wanting to fight over the positions.

And that very well could be what the staff is thinking or planning and we just don't know it yet. In BVG's system, I don't see him as an ideal press CB so he'd probably find the field more at FS.

Especially if Redfield doesn't pick up his game next year.

Hope your are right Koon. Watching Max this year made me wonder what all the hype was about. I like Shumate, too, but he didn't set the world on fire either.

FWIW, I'm never wrong. Except when I listen to Wizard's investing advice and lose all my money.

I think Shumate is "Maxed out"

He's had plenty of time and reps to impress....

Max is my boy. He's gonna be an impact guy this year. I agree there. I think his issues are just between the ears. He's a outstanding athlete.

Any word on whether we got in the door for the in-home tonight?

As an aside: I assume these coaches don't show up on the doorstep like Southwestern book guys, but does anyone know how much finagling it takes for a coach to make the living room?

Even if we already lost the recruitment you show up if they'll have you. 1. You are in a home in Louisiana. Nuf said. 2. You never burn a bridge, Amir situations, while rare, happen.

The six targets for Notre Dame

Justin Reid, S
Geismar (La.) Dutchtown
Rankings: Three-star talent … No. 47 ranked safety and No. 33 player in Louisiana.
Contenders: Stanford, Notre Dame, LSU
The Skinny: Reid took an official visit to South Bend on Jan 23. and left high on the Irish. Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly then went in-home with him on Wednesday, but just hours after that visit, Reid was spotted at an LSU basketball game. LSU's campus is just 19 miles from his high school, and according to sources, Tigers' offensive coordinator Cam Cameron spent the day recruiting locally. While all indications are that Kelly's visit went well, Reid is still slated to take an official visit to LSU this weekend. The other school in the picture is Stanford, who met with Reid on Tuesday. Notre Dame looked like they had made up ground following the official visit, but this remains a three-team race, for now. LSU is trying to flip Mississippi State commit Jamal Peters and he has been rumored as the target that could determine if the Tigers have room for Reid or not.
Announcement Details: TBD.

Would be nice if LSU could flip Peters right now.

Not sure that even matters. We're running a pretty distant 3rd right now. It's an LSU/Stanford battle with ND (faithful) holding on for dear life.

Any new names pop up for safety?

I am not feeling good about getting Reid or Farrar. Maybe poach someone else's safety?

Lucky, you usually have really good sources and this is the first I have heard this is still the case. I thought we pulled pretty even after his OV but you're saying we didn't?

The visit seem to wear off pretty quickly. On this one I'm going off of Wiltfong's demeanor recently and it's basically moving on.

Lucky is right. We made a very good impression, but we can't compete with him having the opportunity to see his family as often as he could in either of those two locations.
