I know some are still hanging on to that sliver of hope but am I wrong in thinking its not worth the time to invest with this one?

I don't think that would be wrong at all. Seems our best shot at RB currently lies with Williams then Vaughn.

Remember when we used to talk about recruiting in recruits threads? That was cool

Doesn't this generally always happen in threads of recruits we have either no shot at or have somehow lost along the way? General disappointment, including jabs at the coaching staff, followed by non-related jabber, followed by MORE disappointment.

I don't think anyone thinks we're getting Sosa. At least they shouldn't be thinking that. That ship has long sailed.

This 100%. It showed how overblown that game was when ND upended LSU, and USC barely escaped a coach-less Nebraska team.

ND had to deal with the most amount of injuries/suspensions in the country, while USC remained practically unscathed the whole year. Overall, they were extremely lucky this year in those regards. A lot more leadership and experience on the field, and they had the talent and balanced attack to exploit a very green ND defense. Meanwhile, ND was fumbling around with an injured Golson.

I'm guessing you don't follow USC at all if you're making that statement. They lost guys to season-ending injuries that forced them to start a true freshman at LT (think about that). They lost their starting MLB and their starting corner. They lost a 5 star DT. They basically were down to one TE and a true freshman WR masquerading as a TE due to injury and suspension. They started 3 true freshmen on the O-line.

Oh, and they happened to be in year 3 of the most crippling sanctions since the SMU death penalty. If ANYONE had an excuse, it was USC. (EDIT: Sorry, I missed your post GoldenDome. You beat me to it. Reps.)

And we didn't lose 17 starters to injury. We were ridiculously crippled defensively, but offensively WE were the team basically unscathed. You can't count guys who played all year but were banged up as being injured. Every single school in the nation plays with guys banged up. If you count Lombard, and Lombard as being injured, then we should have gone to the back-ups. As it was, our entire offense played together the entire year...so that 17 number is grossly exaggerated.

Kind of depends on how you look at it. I think 17 is slightly high but here is the list off the top of my head of people who missed at least time at some point this season (I am unsure of how much time Hayes, Matuska and Martini missed. I know that Hayes and Matuska both got hurt during USC but not sure of how much time they actually missed).

Starters or people who would have started who missed games or parts of games due to injury
Trumbetti
Day
Jones
Cage
Riggs
Collinsworth
Redfield
Tranquill
Schmidt
Martini
Hayes?
Matuska?
Barratti
Grace

On offense
Lombard

Players who didn't play for other reasons who would have started
Williams
Daniels

No doubt we had injuries but you are listing guys that were never starters and were never going to be starters unless guys in front of them got hurt. We had 3 guys start all year on defense but on offense we had pretty much all of our starters in the USC game then add the 3 on D and we had about 14 of our 22 starters. So though we lost about 8 guys on D that is not 17 players that were watching the USC game. And Golson may have had a shoulder injury but that isn't why he played like crap in that game. And if he was that hurt then he shouldn't have been playing at all. Malik could have done well enough to keep it respectable, I believe.

That doesn't change the fact that they were starting even if it was due to injures and in fact you can make an argument that it is a greater harm as having to play your 4th or 5th MLB is never ideal. I also never mention anything about Golson so I don't know where that is coming from. I am just saying that the number of 17 isn't as far fetched as NDinLA made it seem, while it isn't completely accurate there is some truth there.

You basically made my point for me. 17 starters is grossly over-exaggerating the true number. He said 17 of 22 starters, not 17 of 44 starters. Backups aren't starters. Or else, next year we'd be returning like 28 starters LOL.

This is what I agree with. If you are going to say 17 of 22 starteres then it needs to be either the original starting 22 or the 22 that started the most games (I like original 22 myself because a starter gets hurt in the first couple games, the guy who replaces him will have started more but should still be considered a backup. Otherwise you could have started 17 guys who started at least x amount of games.

The point is he is delusional and makes blanket statements without any sort of concrete evidence to back his opinion. The fact is, BK owes Sark a favor of not running up the score because USC could have blown the lid off and set a record in the history of the rivalry. They could have easily put up 70 points. BK looked worn out in the post game presser and thanked Sark for running the ball the whole 2nd half.

All of the concrete evidence points to the fact that the game was clearly lopsided and USC was playing with less scholarship players. It just so happens that they had true freshmen that are ready to play like JuJu Smith, D Mama, Toa, Adoree, and Viane. Those guys were physically ready to play right out of high school.

As much as I hate to revisit that game, it was as lopsided as it comes.

So if I am reading this right, we were missing 17-19 of our 1st-3rd string players, some of whom started a game......got it now.

So when does Soso sign with someone other than ND?

I believe it has been stated that he is now a NSD commit.

It remains true that Texas kids who Texas wants rarely leave Texas.
Certainly that's how my Texas friend sees it.
