Talking about the visit he received from Urban...

To be fair, the "Urban Liar" thing never had to do with his level of success. He's always won big everywhere he's been. So if we're going up against UM for a kid who really only cares about winning and the NFL, we probably don't stand a chance. Which is no different from how things were when he was at UF and eating our lunch regularly.

But he is a liar. He's notorious for negatively recruiting against ND in ways that aren't remotely fair or accurate. And he regularly makes absurd promises to recruits ("You could be the next Percy Harvin!") that he has no intention of following through on. Does he need to do this? No, not with his recent success. But he does anyway. Which actually might work in our favor, because Kelly has won a bunch of head-to-heads with Urban over kids who saw through his schtick. If he was more straight-forward in his approach (like Saban), that might not be the case.

How straight forward exactly? This straight forward....

To take this a step further...

Everyone on this board understands that the "Urban Liar" moniker is directly based in anecdotal recruiting sagas, right? It's not just rumor or conjecture... it's specific cases illustrating his duplicitous nature. Like there are about a dozen "verified" cases of him just flat out lying to kids and/or negatively recruiting ND in the most underhanded ways imaginable.

There is absolutely no doubt that Urban Meyer is a FANTASTIC coach. But there's also no doubt that he's unscrupulous as a person.

Urban Meyer makes Lane Kiffin look like a guy I would get a beer with. He is the worst person.

It was funny after they won this year urban now has to get a tattoo...made a bet with team...Huerman was on svp show and said urban was going to get it because "he wouldn't lie to us"...sure thing

Hes solid to ND. All is well with Kraemer. Like, I said, I would have more concerns with Urban not visiting the top OL in Ohio than I do with him visiting the top OL in Ohio.

Per ISD, Looking at a visit January 31, no plans to visit OSU despite rumors. Didn't talk to Meyer that long. He was told he'd win multiple championships at OSU, but the visit "wasn't anything big." Talks to Eichenberg quite a bit and hopes he can visit with him

Thaaaaat would be a flagrant foul. Keep it on the football field Tommy.

In regards to tOSU making a run - can we stop with the grad rate argument already? We get it - there are few schools in the country that are on NDs level in reference to graduating their players. That said, I doubt the grad rate makes any difference to this kid.

When Cincinnati Elder five-star offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer committed to Notre Dame back on Oct. 4, 2014, the class of 2016 recruit made it clear that his recruitment was over and he will sign with the Fighting Irish in Feb. of 2016.

However, Ohio State has picked up its pursuit as of late and head coach Urban Meyer even stopped by his school recently to check in on the 6-5, 305-pounder.

Although rumors have swirled about Kraemer looking around and not being as solid to the Irish as he once was, that doesn't look to be the case at all according to Kraemer

"There are so many reasons," said Kraemer on why he is committed to Notre Dame. "I have a great relationship with [offensive line] Coach [Harry] Hiestand and I feel like he can really help me reach my potential. Beyond that, once my football career is over, the degree from Notre Dame is going to carry so much more weight than anywhere else. Finally, it's a perfect fit for me. I'm Irish Catholic and grew up in catholic schools my entire life. It will be an easy transition."

When asked if the Notre Dame coaching staff or fans have any reason for concern about his pledge to the Irish, he responded, "Not at all."

Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Kraemer is the No. 26 overall player in the country, the No. 4 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 1 recruit in Ohio from the class of 2016.

Great article! We got ourselves a great kid right here. Team up with Nelson, Elmer, Barrs, TR, and McGlinchey looks beastly!

364 days to hold onto him. Lets run the ball a lot, maybe Lombard can get drafted in April, and keep Harry after him.

[EDIT] Ok, nm, I thought Lombard was going to get his back fixed and take a shot, but it sounds like he's done with football and has no aspirations for the NFL anymore.

Scout: Talked with Kelly and Hiestand on signing day. He is the cornerstone of the class. Told to target Eichenberg and Bredeson. Tommy thinks Eichenberg is down to OSU and ND while Bredson is ND and Wisconsin. Also, loves ND, doesn't care about coaching changes.

Tommy did a great job of blocking out his guy. The same can't be said of #5, maybe Tommy can teach him how to block out.

At 42, my nerves are a tad frayed. These monsters go along with my 10 and 8 yr old daughters. Coffee is my lifeline right now!!!!

I was going to call Kraemer the Justice Hayes of the 2016 class.

When Tommy Kraemer committed to Notre Dame in October he did so with his education and football career in mind.
That’s why the recent changes to the Irish coaching staff haven’t affected the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder from Elder High School in Cincinnati. Assistants Tony Alford and Kerry Cooks left the Irish to join the staffs at Ohio State and Oklahoma, respectively. Matt LaFleur returned to the NFL after just one season in South Bend.
“To be completely honest, I talked to coach Alford twice and that was really quick on one of my visits and I’ve never seen coach Cooks I don’t think,” Kraemer said. “That doesn’t affect me at all. I love Notre Dame. I love the school. It doesn’t affect me at all.”
Kraemer’s commitment is so strong that he’s doing his best to help bolster Notre Dame’s recruiting efforts.
Last Wednesday, while the Notre Dame coaching staff was busy collecting signed National Letters of Intent from the prospects in their 2015 class, head coach Brian Kelly and assistant coaches Harry Hiestand and Mike Elston all talked with Kraemer to let the Midwest’s top lineman know just how important he was in their future. They also encouraged him to share his reasons for picking Notre Dame with some of their other top prospects.
“They gave me a couple of names of guys to get and explained how important I am to this class and how we can really build off of me to build a national championship winning class,” Kraemer said. “That was really cool to talk to the head man on National Signing Day when I’m sure he’s busy with a million other things.”
Kraemer already had developed a strong bond with two of the prospects the Irish identified. He talks frequently with Ohio lineman Liam Eichenberg and Wisconsin lineman Ben Bredeson. The Irish also named Austin Mack as one of their top targets for 2016.
“I’ve gotten to know them really well,” Kraemer said of Eichenberg and Bredeson. “I talk to Liam a lot. It sounds like he’s between Ohio State and Notre Dame. I’m trying to talk to him to come to the good side. Ben is the same way with Wisconsin. He has strong ties there but I think he really likes coach Hiestand and hopefully I can get him with me as well.”
Hiestand has encouraged the trio of linemen to visit South Bend together this spring.
“I’ve been talking to coach Hiestand a lot trying to set up a date,” Kraemer said. “He’s trying to get myself, Liam Eichenberg and Ben Bredeson all up together for a visit on a Friday and Saturday sometime during spring ball.”
Kraemer, who plans to attend the Nike Camp in Columbus on May 31, hopes to make several trips to South Bend this spring. He also has targeted the Irish’s spring game in Indianapolis.
“I heard they were deciding between Indianapolis and Chicago,” he said. “Indianapolis is very close. That will be nice.”
For now, Kraemer will continue to focus on his high school basketball season. The Panthers are off to an 18-2 start and are heading into the post-season on a high note.
Kraemer averages just 1.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game but he’s comfortable with his role.
“I go in for a couple minutes, set some good screens, knock some people around to get our good people open,” he said. “I’m just a role player and I love what I do.”
He also loves the physical benefits to his physical conditioning.
“It’s great,” he said. “There’s a lot of lateral movement for me. It keeps my feet moving and keeps me in shape from football on to spring workouts.”

Love reading this kind of stuff. I hope his help in recruiting locks some folks in early. I'd really like to see a couple cornerstones pop in the next few months.

Thanks TK!!
