So does ND shaft people in DD's sitation?

They already have all of his academic info. Can't he apply now and they say 'yes, you'd be admitted back pending you sit for 2 semesters', or 'no, you will not get in'?

Or do they literally not consider him until the summer, where a guy like him would then be screwed by not going pro/transferring? If not, that is so crappy IMO.

If Davaris comes back our WR corp will be sick nasty. With a QB that can actually run the option, an experienced O-line, and hopefully a defense with a pulse, watch out.

Come on Koon, even for you this is a bit ridiculous. The dude has been kicked out of school TWICE, once for poor grades and a second time for academic dishonesty. He's used up every last drop of academic karma / benefit of the doubt. Any "shaft" he gets is squarely on his own shoulders, not the university's.

I'm not saying he should be allowed back, I'm saying they have ALL pertinent info regarding his academic history/records... Are they really giving him the 'stay tuned and find out in summer'? Rather than saying at the very least 'you have a great chance to be accepted back pending the 2 semester leave'.

Even for me this is a bit ridiculous? Whatever. I'd feel the same way for any regular student too. If you're kickd out for 2 semester, they should give you an idea of if you should apply elsewhere before you sit for a year and find out you could have went somewhere/done something else.

I'm sure DD has an idea from ND what he can do in regards to classes and his schooling. What is up in the air is the football team. It is a completely different animal, so I don't think your analogy applies.

I agree with Wizard that he really doesn't have or deserve the benefit of the doubt. He may have to wait on his fate until after NSD or even after spring ball. It's his own fault he is in this situation, but it seems now he could be a part of a numbers game.

He's suspended, not expelled. The term "suspension" strongly indicates a break in the cycle, with the cycle starting up again after the break. I don't think that there is any question about him coming back after he serves his suspension, unless something new comes to light.

I haven't heard anything where DD declared for the draft.

Assuming that he didn't, are these his only options?

1. Return to ND

2. Transfer to a Non-FBS school.

Transfer to an FBS school and wait a year.

Though maybe this year counts as "waiting a year" since he didn't compete. Hm...

He has a maximum of 5 years to use up his four years of eligibility. I don't think he can sit out another year as 2015 will be his fifth year.

Supplemental Draft is an option as well.

I spent a little time yesterday trying to figure out if DD could use the supplemental draft and I don't think he can unless he were to graduate in between the regular draft and the supplemental draft.

Here is a quote from an article concerning Terrelle Pryor and the supplemental draft.
Supplemental draft might not be in Terrelle Pryor's future - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

"If there are no players eligible for a supplemental draft, there is no supplemental draft," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an email to FOXSports.com on Sunday. "It is for players whose circumstances have changed in an unforeseen way after the regular (college) draft. It is not a mechanism for simply bypassing the regular (draft)."

Aiello cited examples of "unforeseen" changes as players who were kicked off their college teams, declared academically ineligible or graduated and then decided to leave school. Pryor doesn't qualify on any of those fronts.

I don't think anything in DD's "circumstances" could change in between the two drafts to make him eligible for the supplemental draft.

Good luck DD.

Lots of time lost on the field, so focus on working your butt off kid.

Saw this coming, I've already moved on. We have a lot of promise on the perimeter. It'd be great to get him back, but don't think we're in trouble without him by any means.

He's talented, but so is ND's remaining WR corps. Good luck to him.

Meh, least worried about this move than any other players that have moved on to the NFL early. We'll be fine.

Maybe he's just not confident getting re-instated to ND. Doesn't necessarily mean he's throwing it away.

I'm happy with the receivers we have and I hope DD blows the doors off his testing days and he gets snatched up by someone early.

If he can stay healthy and his work ethic continues to grow, he could be a starter in the NFL. I hope for nothing less.
