Huge piece to this class, we have solid TEs now but this kids a difference maker. Was I the only one that missed the seam pass to the TE this year? He will bring it back

I had to catchup on the posts.

Best part was piombino pulling his natural negative nancy routine about this recruitment before he committed.

Welcome aboard alize

Two thoughts:

1) You're clearly not paying attention if you think "negative nancy" is my routine. The news was that UM was a player now because of Harbaugh. I didn't make that up. Had the news been that he said he WASN'T interested in UM and I still had the same stance, well THEN you would have a leg to stand on. But alas, you do not.

2) The fact that THAT was the best part of this news is quite sad and telling.

Enjoy the moment, brah

Thank you Coach Tony Alford. Last year when a young man got into some trouble you stood by him and helped him even though he could not be accepted at Notre Dame. I think this made a profound impression on the coaches and the players at Bishop Gorman.

I was admittedly negative nancy about both Jones and ESB.

I'm glad to be wrong.

This can't be overstated. Add in Stanley's success, the Fertitta effect, and now Aliz'e...man, this could be one helluva pipeline for some time. This has probably already been stated, but does anyone know if the new HC has ties to any particular DI college?

Are we talking about Starks? Didn't he get booted from BG though?

Yep. UNLV. Old HC Tony Sanchez is his brother. It's funny because the basketball coach for Gorman is the brother of the basketball coach at UNLV

I don't think it can be overstated how much flexibility we have now that we have a prototypical TE/H-back in Luatua and prototypical flex TE in Jones. This is not too far off from what the Patriots had with Hernandez and Gronkowski. You can motion to confuse the defense in a ton of different ways with the same personnel groupings, which is a monster when you combine that with up-tempo. If you can do that with a true dual-threat QB, watch out. Kelly should have a field day.

Just stirring the pot some more, but Brian Kelly is very close with Bill Belichick, and they spent a lot of time talking about that specific offense.

i never can understand why BK does not recruit a walk on fullback just for the odd goal line duties.

We did use TE's move just behind the guards to block in 2012 a bit (not exactly sure the technical term for that). Even then our power running left a lot lacking, especially on 3rd and short.

H backs are the new fullbacks in the spread system. Tyler Luatua was in principle a fullback. He did not play on the line of scrimmage and was used almost exclusively as a blocker.
