Per Rivals USC, Jones says he is torn between the 2 schools and says everything is the same between the 2, except for the weather. Then added that weather wasn't a big deal. Also said ND is recruiting him harder than USC lately.

The irony..... if he picks USC over ND its God's fault?

I'll never understand what is so appealing about it being hot and sunny every day. I don't know about you, but I LOVED it when it was overcast and even cold for football. I can put on extra layers to protect from the cold, but the heat is just gross. What are these kids, fucking lizards?

Sunny and 70 degrees in October, November and December is not gross its beautiful. I lived in the overcast and snow of Indiana for 19 years and I'm happy to be out of it!

Well, when Pangaea was broken up who assigned the future GPS coordinates for South Bend to be in Indiana instead of California?

We just need to get Al Gore to sell Global Warming in the midwest and lock this ish up!!

I don't mean to be rude but this is ridiculous. We're grown ass men and should be able to completely understand what these kids are thinking. Not saying we know what they are thinking but understanding it is different. How can you not fathom a 18 year old kid would rather play in LA blows my mind. It's not the decision that blows my kind, it's your reaction to to react this way. Big boy pants is what is needed.

It's happening with Soso and there is nothing ND can do about it. It's reality, either get over it or move on.

Edit: you know what, it's Christmas. Your post is ridiculous, but Merry Christmas.

Fucking hilarious. Continental drift!!!!!! Its continental drift's fault. This recruiting battle was lost 100 million years ago because of the Atlantic mid-oceanic Ridge got all uppity.

Here's to hoping the Pacific Plate can transform this rivalry once again!

You really think ND offers more value than Stanford?

It's not my opinion, GD. GSRs and Payscale's salary data are objective facts.

Does ND offer better value than Stanford? When I first started tracking these metrics a couple years ago, yes. At the time, ND's African-American football GSR was a lot higher than Stanford's (100% v. 75%), which gave us a significant edge. The gap in GSR has since shrunk quite a bit, so we're pretty well even now.

But we were talking about USC initially. And they still graduate fewer than half of their African-American football players. So the Trogans are not offering an even remotely similar academic product to Jones.

Perfect explanation. As much as I love ND, if my kids got sholarship offers to Stanford, I would have to keep my mouth shut and biased opinion to myself. I hate U$C too, but would love to visit my kids there! Weather shouldn't matter but it does to lots of kids. And in California, it's not all about the warm weather, they have beaches next to mountains, beautiful women, etc. San Diego State, UCLA/U$C, Stanford, Miami along with ND would be my schools of choice for obvious reasons. Even IF they seem immature. Picking a college may be the only time you get to pick where you want to live.

When you win games and utilize the highly recruited RBs already on the roster then the weather is easier to overcome. It is more surprising to me that Jones and Soso gave us such a close look than that they ultimately will decide to go another route. Not much objectively appealing to recruit a top RB to ND right now other than academics. We dont run the ball enough, had a crappy season, will be returning two talented RBs already, and a coach who very well may not be around when these kids graduate or move on to pros.

Yes, but the methodology in getting expected earnings is opinion. I find that it disregards the individual completely. Simply multiplying GSR with earnings does not quantify value in terms of educational opportunity. What it does tell me is how selective ND is in the screening process by the type of person they recruit. Wouldn't you agree that their screening process for football players has a major impact on GSR much like Stanford?
