He plays in what has been regarded as one of the five best conferences in the nation the last few years. I think he'll fit in well.
You have GOT to be kidding me. Where did you read this, the Indy Star?
Indiana HS football is pathetic. The fact that ND is considering this guy just shows how desperate ND has gotten. This guy will never be more than a practice squad player and if he does become more than that, God help us because that means ND is playing MAC football quality.
Watching ND recruiting is becoming more and more disappointing to say the least.

Agree with what you say. Would like Butler to play safety, but hurts depth at corner, I don't want to put the young pups in at corner when they are not ready.
Shumate, Redfield, Farley, I think White will play safety. That is 4. Two more from this class and we will be young but ok number wise.

Hope he can turn into a player for us.
Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central safety Mykelti Williams had tears in his eyes when he told family and friends that Notre Dame offered on Thursday.
He committed to his recruiter Mike Elston on the spot.
The pledge became official on Friday during a conversation with Brian Kelly.
Ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 22 safety, the 6-foot, 198-pound Williams becomes commit number 22 for Notre Dame in the class-of-2015. With Williams in the boat, the Irish maintain the nation's No. 11 ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports.
Things really picked up between Williams and Notre Dame following the season, with Elston visiting the school and Williams also getting a chance to talk with defensive coordinator Brian Van Gorder.
Williams chose Notre Dame over offers from the likes of Louisville, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Wisconsin. He is the fourth in-state commit for the Irish in this class as he joins linebackers Josh Barajas and Asmar Bilal and defensive lineman Brandon Tiassum.
Williams had a huge senior season. He finished third in the Mr. Football voting, and was the Indy Star Dream Team Player of the Year, making 74 tackles and picking off seven passes. He had the game-winning interception in the state championship game as a junior.
Does this mean we are basically out with all of the other safety prospects?

Maybe he read it here, and just got it a couple of spots off:

Obviously your knowledge of Indiana HS football is what is pathetic, not the league.
Starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel aren't we?
People talk about competing with the SEC and wanting ND to be competitive in the national landscape. When you talk about losing games to Northwestern and Louisville, think of it because of recruiting like this.
Signing these kids shows how far ND is from being a major player in the real world of college football. Kid would never see the field at a majority of SEC schools.
Bring on Ball State and the MAC!
But hey, we have academics and history still right?
That escalated quickly.

b) Kelly continues to have to develop instead of have instant impact kids. While there may be a few exceptions, this largely continues to be the case. That makes depth a major issue, the idea of "next man in" really goes out the window as well.
People need to quit with the negativity, I remember when a lot of you were down on Sheldon Day. We have done pretty good with Indiana kids as of late.
Bring on Ball State and the MAC!
But hey, we have academics and history still right?
I am sure that people will cast stones at me when it comes to that sentiment, but two things come into focus here:
a) With recruiting like this, there are key positions that we will continue to be weak at, which do not allow for a well-rounded team. That will continue to rear its ugly head when it counts. Can't compete on a national level like this.

I have yet to see an example of Kelly's development as ND's coach. Kids come in as 4 stars and are out produced consistently by 2-3 stars. If anything, there is a lack of development.

I'm sure everyone will bring their torches for this post, but I 100% endorse the bolded. But when you're 7-5, what can you do. Gotta win games.
The great posts continue with these two. You couldn't be more off base. Unreal.
