Why would we tell him he couldn't enroll early? Was is the academic thing?
That's the rumor. But remember the last rumor

McKinney was never an EE....
We made the post addressing rumors (maybe coming from here stemming from Loy's post), not suggesting it himself. The source he quoted said they were "under the impression everything is going to be fine". He also said the topic of it not working out hasn't been brought up by either party, but could be something to watch.
I'm not a big Jake Brown fan, but let's not twist his words around.
Agreed, I haven't seen that mentioned one time until now. He's long been considered an academic risk and was aware what he needed to do. I don't think its a coincidence that the academic issues get leaked and next thing you know he's taking an OV. Also, he puts out a tweet speaking to how if people want you around they'll make it happen. As if we're not supposed to hold him to the same standards of other players/recruits. Now, are those standards too much. That's debatable but its not as if he is getting some kind of poor treatment.

We might have to add to that list! Damn it.
I agree with your first statement but disagree with everything else.
1. You do not know what the tweet was even about. McKinney isnt the kid that tweets with underlying meaning like that.
2. Not relating to you, but its comical how many people "know" whats going on in this recruitment since he tweeted that he was taking an OV this morning.
3. Id try not to hold judgement on someone until all the facts or situations are made clear.
His tweet about "if someone wants you around they'll make it happen" certainly has underlying tones.
If this means his academics aren't in order and he expects BK to grease the wheels, then it tells me he didn't pay a lot of attention to the "Frozen Five".
Mora is treating us like Urban did when he was at Florida, grabbing a few of our recruits as needed. Brutal.
Look through his tweets lol. He is all about the ladies.
Life is all about the girls at that age.
What is Mora suppose to do? Ya the guy is a dirt ball but he plays the recruiting game beautifully, smells blood and goes after it. We try flip kids all the damn time and we will always goes head to head with UCLA for recruits because we hit Cali hard. Aren't we trying to flip one of his top guys? I hate Mora as well but ND recruits some of the best players in the country and lands top talent so other schools will try and pluck our guys when they smell weakness. It's not like Mora called up McKinney last night after he heard the rumors. I am sure these convos have been going on for weeks. Probably why the staff wants 17 safeties in this class.
Yeah, UCLA has at least been interested and in contact with McKinney since last summer.
All of this stuff with Mora seems like a classic "don't hate the player, hate the game"... no one batted an eye when we grabbed a top QB from PSU on account of better academics and good recruiting, or when we flipped Crawford because BVG is not Diaco. Just the way things are.

Sorry, I don't follow recruits on Twitter.

Yeah, the Mora whining gets tiresome. Vanderdoes was a crappy deal, but there's a strong case to be made that he never really wanted to be here anyway. And what else has Mora done to us besides also be in the hunt for some of our west coast recruits? He plays the game just like any other big-time coach, that's all. If McKinney goes, it'll be because his academics weren't in order. More on us than anything Mora's done.
As some on here like to point out, Cali kids are fickle and like to stay close to home. USC's been down so UCLA's winning more than their typical share. But if they're doing it dirty, it's hard to see how.

Yes I understand it is the young mans responsability to make sure the academics are in order but how does this keep happening? Does no one check through out the year to make sure they still meet the regulations?

I have to belief the staff stays in touch and asks the kid about his academics and if he's making progress, but they can't get the actual grades from anyone but the student and parents. Given that, the kid could hedge the truth hoping it will all work out. It could turn a little ugly to ask the kid to show you his grades to verify he's making progress.
