I still don't get In & Out. It's bland, small and pricey for what you get. I've been in Cali for 6 months and I just went for the first time on Monday becuz my chick didn't want to go into Smashburger.

Smashburger and The Habit are great for chains. Portillo's has the best burger of any corporate joint in America... and nobody ever orders them because you go to Portillo's for beefs and hot dogs.

Speaking of Portillo's: Easily the highest rated establishment on the list and for good reason.

Also, if price were to play a factor here, Chipotle would drop WAY down... maybe the worst 'bang for your buck' fast food joint out there.
Depends on location. A Moe's burrito here is over $10 versus $7 and change for Chipotle.

Fried chicken chains are worse than pizza chains. You need hole-in-the-wall quality for that type of food (barbecue too).

Few things:
Del Taco well ahead of Taco bell is truth, but rightfully neither are ahead of more authentic spots.
InNOut boys and girls..., that's right.
Nothing against Chick-fil-A... I like that place, but the best chicken spot is El Pollo Loco for days... their chicken is the truth, also thought KFC got hated on a bit, it's not that bad.
Arby's better than Subway?? Surely not.
and Wendy's is higher than it should be, but I'm satisfied that they are still basically listed in the toilet.

the Wendy's in downtown-ish Riverside off of Central is a complete mess...they recently flattened the original restaurant and built a new floorplan on the same spot. The new floorplan is horrible, as soon as you walk in, you run into the line of where ppl are getting the self-serve soft drinks. The line you stand in to order your food is not clearly mapped out and you get ppl trying to get in line from 2 different spots on opposite ends of the floorplan, ppl then dont really know who is next in line.

But hey, there are problems with the new floorplan, and its a logistical nightmare once inside the store, but they made up for all that by serving some crappy food.

You got me. I just don't care for them, I'd rather have Carl's Jr Junior Cheeseburger on their new fresh baked bun for $1.29 or stop at Smashburger or the Habit and go top shelf.

"Those are good burgers, Walter."

I share your affection for Smash Burger, but I don't think it's fair to compare it to In n Out (or Fuddrucker's for that matter). One is fast food, the other isn't.

For my money, Chik-fil-A and In n Out are by far the best fast food joints in AZ.

I agree Whiskey. They aren't in the same price point. On the other hand if under 5 minutes in the drive thru qualifies for fast food, Portillo's is the best fast food in America. Technically it's fast casual in the industry but 5 minutes blurs the line between the two industry segments.

Guess I'm gonna have to try a burger the next time I'm by Tempe Marketplace. I made a point of stopping by Portillo's to get a hot dog, but it didn't blow me away.

There's a hot dog joint called Gold Coast Dogs in Chicago-Midway that I'd hit every time I flew home from ND which was amazing. Portillo's is close, just not the same level of glorious tube steak I was expecting.

I eat at Gold Coast when I fly out of Midway or O'Hare.

The dogs should be basically the same as both places probably use kosher Vienna's, the only acceptable variable is sauerkraut. You can't go wrong with anything from Portillo's. I get a combo 9/10 times but I sneak a hot dog or burger in from time to time.

We are staging at Portillo's tomorrow am before heading over to lot 8 to tailgate. As soon as the Irish win... it's back to Portillo's for a victory meal!

Not trollin, just not a cheap fast food fan. All that stuff is the same to me. Tasteless garbage. I understand you California guys like your In N Out. Good for you guys but next time you are in Buena Park, stop in to Portillo's and have real hamburger.

I do have one question for you. Forgetting price, does In N Out taste better than The Habit or Smashburger?

Wow. Can't argue with that. I can't look down my nose at you, I think Beef Meximelts from Taco Bell are God's gift to the world and I know @ .0018% of the US population agrees with me.

In-N-Out Burger is equal to Whataburger. Nothing special. Just another fast food burger joint. No such thing as a "good burger" from a fast food joint.

In n Out is an awesome burger. But it's only a fast food burger.

So many people get that mixed up. They go into In n Out thinking they're going to get the best burger on the planet. They won't. They'll get an incredibly good burger, for a decent price, fast.

Get it animal style double double.

Then go to Portland, Oregon and hit up Slow Bar. Get whatever seasonal burger they have with a drink of whiskey. Enjoy.

Agreement, I've said before, it's the best fast food burger out there, but it's still just fast food, ...

I've always wondered how one eats these 'huge tower' burgers... And back to the hat... I'm definately with the crowd that it's totally overrated.
