Some of those plays looks like Guyton is on an option route. I am no coach but a lot of those plays look like has the freedom to just "get open" or find a whole in the defense. If so I wonder if he will have thst same freedom with BK.

Murray is soooo good too. Lol

I was not a big fan of this commitment when it first went down. Was not impressed with his junior film but he is just blowing up his senior year and his film looks much better IMO. Will never fly by anybody and will always be an average athlete but just seems really smooth. Looking forward to watching you at ND Jalen.

Because of Kyler Murray's athleticism, I think Guyton does have the freedom to improvise on patterns. As quarterbacks, Murray and Everett Golson share many intangibles, one of them being confidence(and, two being that size does not matter). Erasing the go ahead touchdown against Florida State didn't faze Golson. He left the field against Florida State with the mindset - I could have made that last play in the end zone, I should have made that last play. I think Sumlin is getting a winner in Murray. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts as a freshman. The job was his at Oregon, but he chose his father's(Kevin Murray) school. Five star Kyle Allen or Ken Hill might have a program transfer in their future.

Our WR's are going to be filthy next year.

C-Rob, Fuller, Torii Hunter, Lisa Ann's boyfriend, Jalen, CJ... lord.

Amir will almost certainly be back too.

If asked. There could be a situation where they have minimal 5th year spots to offer. His durability could play a factor in the decision.

Now, I don't think it will happen, but there are only a certain # of absolute locks for the 5th year spots.

Not sure if its been posted but after their game last friday against Plano West Jalen said that he's ND through and through but Kyler Murray has been on him for a while to take an OV with him. Said that even before each other were getting recruited they used to talk about taking visits together for fun. Said it would only be to have fun finishing up high school.

Right...which is why I said "almost". Could be a weird situation where he isn't asked back but I think we're all on the same page that he'll probably be back next year.

How does the #1 WR (70 rec. - 1560 yds - 16 TD's) on the #2 team in the country, playing against a great Texas big school schedule only rate a 3 star? Film don't lie.

I don't care about ratings and where ND finishes as a team. In fact, if the Irish could land 20 "Jalen Guyton 3 star level" players every year... I'd be happy NEVER signing a 4 or 5 star player again.

Him and CJ Sanders are going to terrorize people when it's their turn to get on the field.

From Barton Simmons:
This is a good time for my regularly scheduled message that high three-stars are good players and everyone can't be four-stars. I know that that's not what you want to hear but keep in mind that our four-stars are guys we feel are NFL guys. high three-stars can still be productive in college, even all-americans but they may lack the NFL upside of a four-star.

Guyton is a great example of a guy that is polished, he's very productive, he plays on one of the best teams in the nation with one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. He's in a great situation to put up big numbers. He's above average sized, above average speed but what separates him?

William Fuller may not be a bad comparison. For the record, I liked Fuller a lot coming out of high school. I ranked him as a high 3-star when his only offers were from Delaware and Temple. We eventually moved him up to a four-star. He's obviously been a good player for the Irish but is he a no-doubt NFL guy? I haven't watched enough of him to know for sure and I haven't talked to NFL personnel but my hunch is that while he's got a shot, he's not a no-doubt type of guy. That's pretty consistent with his ranking.

With Guyton, I think there's a very small chance that he is anything less than a productive player at ND. But how close is he to his ceiling? These are just things we have to keep in mind when we go through the evaluation process. Every kid that ND accepts a commitment from probably has the potential to develop into a four-star type of talent but we still have to draw the line.

Won't post the questions, but you can put it together based on the answers. Direct quotes from Rivals:

"The atmosphere there. I did kind of come home and ponder the decision and let it kind of sit and rest on my mind. After a while it kind of felt like that's where I was headed. I went along with it and haven't really regretted it yet."

"Naturally following any visit you're kind of hyped up on that school and I think that's a lot of what it was. It set it apart and leaving it felt like there was something more than just the hype about it. I held on to it and thought about it and I kept thinking about it and after a while it felt like the place for me and the place I could grow as a person even outside of football. I just went ahead and made that decision."

"Me and Coach Cooks had kind of the same basic relationship you would have with a recruiter, but he did sit me down in his office and we were talking and not even trying to get me to go to Notre Dame, but just from the standpoint of any recruit looking for a school he gave really good advice.

"He basically said that in picking a school, he said, 'I want you to pick a school that you couldn't necessarily get to without football. Use football to take you somewhere that you couldn't go without it. Parlay a talent into something you can truly benefit from.' He said no matter where you go, at the end of the day, they're going to use you for their team to get wins, so he said you want to use them to get all that you can back in return. That played to Notre Dame's advantage, being a top academic school and that's what hit home with me.'"

"I don't know what he tells any of the other recruits. As far as leaving Texas, I set out to leave Texas to be honest. There wasn't a big selling point for me to get out of this. It was kind of me looking to leave the state and get far. The fact they were far north up in Indiana helped with the decision. I wasn't looking to stay in Texas, so it wasn't that big of a deal."

"Growing up in Texas, you get that atmosphere. Not necessarily all of Texas, but making it all the way to a state championship in Texas and playing a high level of football in 6A, it's definitely going to bring the atmosphere. Most growing up haven't played in front of 56,000 fans before. That's not to say we won't be playing in front of 80,000 every week and I'm going to be completely comfortable with that.

"You just kind of have the exposure to that big game type of atmosphere. That's actually an advantage in how I deal with it if I can prove I'm prepared for it. As far as that goes, just playing football in Texas at such a high level should help any kid. College is a big experience, so if you can somewhat simulate it before you get here, it will help you in the long run."

"I've been pretty cool with [former Irish commit and recent North Carolina verbal] Prentice [McKinney] the entire time. He was committed to Notre Dame up until recently. I'm still cool with him. CJ [Sanders], I got pretty cool with him on my official. Jerry Tillery's already up there, he's a pretty funny dude. Tristen Hoge, my parents are pretty cool with his parents."

"Not to say anything bad, but I could care less about the rankings. The only reason I know what star I was is because my parents were into that stuff at one point. I haven't been checking."

Isn't this exactly what that kid kicked Harbaugh out of his house for saying?

LOL yup! All in the phrasing, I guess...

Yeah, but I personally have no problem with our coaches or anyone else's pointing that out because it's often true. Goes back to the cliche, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

And FWIW, it was Greg Mattison, not Harbough I believe.

That is a well-crafted message. Thanks for the re-post, I'm glad our coaches are being forthright.
