You are right, but he is a turnover machine

A TO machine? What a load. We're 6-1. A QB that has not cost his team a single game is not a TO machine. He had a bad stretch and made up for it when it counted.

Calm down, I forget my italics. But let's not sick her and act like Golson hasn't turned the football over to many times this season. Hopefully it's just a bad stretch but it was a stretch.

OK. If you meant the opposite of what you said, than I guess I we agree. :)

Golson has turned the ball over a lot, but he's also been very productive and made up for his mistakes.

Anyone who claims Golson wasn't a turnover machine during a stretch is kidding* himself. Yes, he also won us games. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. That said, there is no one on the roster I would rather have under center.

Was thinking this too. I think Winbush has more overall athleticism and probably a better arm though. Hopefully his decision making isn't atrocious because he's got all the qualities of a great college QB.

That's like saying that Tommy Rees was a TD machine based on watching the Oklahoma and Arizona State games last year. I think most ND fans would say, Tommy can be a really effective QB under the right conditions.

EG was coughing up the ball a lot there for a while, but I hardly think TOs are his defining characteristic. He just had a bad streak.

Hence why I said "during a stretch".

well as for tommy, his nickname is Turnover Tommy. I would think there are a lot of folks that would say he was indeed a turnover machine.

Not discounting what he did for the program when it needed someone to step up.
But he certainly earned that nickname.

My PSU fan "friends" are still upset over ND "jacking" Wimbush.

You could, you know, remind them that's it's Alabama's fault to begin with.

Please, please don't bash me for this but what exactly did Tommy do? Are you saying he stepped up in some games when someone needed to step up? I am just curious on what you think he did for ND? I know he was a huge presence in the locker room and his teammates loved him. Maybe I am missing it?

Golson can make up for his TO's with PLAYMAKING.

Rees couldnt do that.

Wimbush can do that. (So far in his career)

To me, that first W against USC as a freshman was a major contribution. After the beatdowns when I was a student, that was a hell of a moment. You can minimize his contributions in that game I guess, but Quinn and Clausen took more talented teams into that game for years and got their asses kicked a handful of times.

I'm not saying he deserves a statue, but he definitely made contributions and helped build us back to where we are now (including the often discussed relief appearances in 2012).

I am not sure I agree he helped us get to where we are at now. Did he have some good 8th and 9th innings sort to say? Yes, and I totally agree with you about the USC game and you can throw the 2012 Purdue game in there as well. I don't know man, not to bash Rees but I think he gets way to much credit sometimes. I am not going to bash him and get this thread off topic so I will just leave it as that. Might not be the popular opinion but it's mine.

Get that bad juju out of here. We have been incredible and exceeding expectations when he is not playing. That says it all...

Tommy was obviously the better option when he played. He had a pretty decent record as a starter. If he was so bad, than the person behind him couldn't have been better. If the Irish put in a worse QB, maybe they don't win as many games, and maybe the recruiting is barrel scraping.

I'm in the Pro-Tommy boat.

Just saying Andrew Hendrix. Everett Golson and Gunner Kiel are all tied for 7th in the Country in TD passes. I don't think anyone really knew what happend but there was plenty of talent behind Rees.

It seemed like Hendrix got a case of the "yips"...AKA Johnny Miller. It got to the point where he couldn't complete the simplest of passes. A new venue was just what he needed.

The staff's recovery job after the Blake situation is unreal.

Major kudos to Kelly and company. They kicked butt with this recruitment.

There has never been a Notre dame coaching staff to show as much determination in recruiting the entire country. Lou Holtz, to his credit, made sincere effort. But, as you say, Kelly and company have taken national recruitment to a different level for Notre Dame.
