OFD's Jamie Uyeyama just published a film breakdown of why Wimbush is a perfect fit for Kelly's offense. Here's a small excerpt:

I can't begin to tell you how ecstatic I am about this pickup for Notre Dame. I think the program probably would have been fine with quarterback depth if they didn't land anyone in 2015, but going from no one to landing a player like Wimbush is massive. I have watched film on and seen most of the top quarterbacks in this recruiting class throw in person. There are very few as talented as him.

Out of all the players who attended the Elite 11 back in July, I didn't see anyone with a stronger arm than Wimbush. I really can't do it justice by describing it or sharing video of it. Although, if I had to describe it, it would be arm strength "like whoa". It's kind of ridiculous to see it in person. I thought he might actually dent the chest of a few of the young local kids who were taking part in drills before the receivers from The Opening showed up.

One thing I saw from him then and also made note of from his junior year was that he tended to rifle in the ball on just about every throw. I liked his mechanics and his footwork, but he didn't show the touch on some throws that required it.

That is something that looks to have changed with him during his senior season. He now has added those touch throws to his game.

Well worth a read.

One thing that really impressed Trent Dilfer at the Elite 11 was his desire to get better. He was told first day that he needed to work on his "touch". It impressed Dilfer that even though Wimbush was in the midst of the Elite 11 competition, he was more focused on improving and tried to throw most of his throws working on his touch even when he could've rifled the ball on many occassions. He seemed to see the big picture, the time at the Elite 11 was about improving with access to some valuable teachers rather than focused solely on winning.

2014 Bergen Catholic (NJ) rated #10 at St. Peters Prep (NJ) rated #1 game broadcast on ESPNU on 9/12/14.

I only watched the first half, but that was all that I needed to see. Strong Arm, Good Decisions, Used Legs when he needed to. Three of the touchdown passes in the first half were perfectly thrown including a beautiful fade.

19-of-24 for 350 yards and five touchdowns, while adding six rushes for 76 yards and one touchdown

From reading another article on the game he left the game with a little more than 4 minutes to go in the 3rd Qtr.

And nothing pisses off Wharton grads more than when you point that out.

He won't be flipping anywhere and will enroll at ND but I found this interesting

Overview: The Hokies are not pushing for any quarterbacks in the 2015 class but the one that they would like to take is Brandon Wimbush, who has been in contact with the Hokies over the past few weeks. Wimbush flipped his commitment to Notre Dame but sources have indicated that he has open communication with Coach Scot Loeffler as well.

Opened it before his commitment I assume? He opened communication with us as well way before anyone thought he was looking here.

That makes me feel better if that's the case. I certainly hope he is all in with ND, but I would suspect the coaches did their diligence after the Barnett flip.

Brandon Wimbush – St. Peter’s Prep
Wimbush turned in yet another efficient game on Friday going 12 for 14 with 202 yards and three touchdowns. The Marauders (5-1) stomped Bayonne 49-0 and will host Union City (5-1) this weekend.

That's kind of who he reminds me of. Little stocky build, he also reminds me of a little bit bigger Everett Golson. Who cares, I am just freaking excited this kid is gonna be playing for us

Me too! I love his tape and the fact that he is a winner just like Everett! He does look the part of Boyd, but I'm not so sure about throwing motion comparisons. Brandon sort of has a long wind up, and I don't recall that being the case with Boyd. But yeah, I am very stoked about our QB position moving forward. Hopefully the special one that is starting for us right now continues his excellent play for next year too! We are very fortunate to have him to say the least.
