I originally thought it was the right call because Herbstreit almost had a stroke on the TV. However, reviewing the link Gramaho posted and listening to the arguments, I have changed my mind. I think the WR was trying to push into the end zone.

Yes, it was a pick but that its the BEAUTY of the call. The WR has the right to run forward, which Kelly knows would have resulted in the DB being taken out of the play. The DB jammed the WR, and the replay clearly shows that CJ did not actively 'block' the DB. CJ simply ran a route and he had the right to occupy that space. WR have the right to run forwards, jam or not. Go watch the replay and you will see what happened.
This.

I agreed with the call when I passively watched the replay on TV. But since cooling down a little and actively analyzing the play, a no-call seems like the right decision. And if a flag is to be thrown on Fuller or even Procise, then one needs to be thrown on the FSU DB who was holding CJ.

I agree he has the right to run his route but he wasn't running one. Come on guys if this is such an obvious non-call wouldn't there be at least ONE analyst SOMEWHERE who agrees?

There is no call there, it sucks. Again, I believe in the team, coaching staff and the future of ND football! Thank you for posting that though. Wizards, come on man.

No because pretty much every analyst works for ESPN and it's easy to agree with the call. The DB sold it. He acted. Nevermind when Winston scrambled for like 6 yards and it was clear Rochell was held and there was a no call. The analysts will always agree because they can only push the major agenda. They can't disagree with the mothership.
Holy shit I'm getting sick of this. Use your head... If there WAS an agenda it would be PRO ND. What do corporations like? Money. How do media networks make money? Advertising. What makes advertisers pay big bucks? Ratings. What creates ratings? Hype. What team generates the most hype, both pro and anti? Notre Dame. Given the choice, ESPN would pick a playoff of Notre Dame, USC, Texas, and Alabama, not Mississippi State, Mississippi, Baylor, and Florida State.

I think what's really telling is that the FSU players don't look to the referee, but at each other. The guy who was defending Fuller was probably supposed to keep outside leverage and defend the flat. He stuck with Fuller (and blocked his path inside... was not interfered with) and allowed Robinson to come open, just as the play is designed.

It was just a bad set of circumstances where both Prosise and Fuller got tangled up and it looked like penalty. But it just wasn't. There was no call to make.

Who cares? We made our point, on the road. NOBODY has a better lose.
Win out we'll be playing for a championship.

... Or they would pick the opportunity to hype the conference they just secured a TV deal with, ala the SEC Network. They're power poll has Auburn as number 1....

C'mon more people hate ND than like us. They win by us losing.

Based no the fact they love the SEC, yes. They want ND to be good, but always lose the big game. It is good for ratings.

You don't know the TV business. ABC prime time is WAY bigger than the dregs of the SEC on SEC Network. The SEC is the only conference where ESPN does NOT have the rights to the game of the week (those being to CBS).

Calm down everyone. It's a tough one to take but it's over. I am more pissed that BVG could not seem to shore up the space left by all those blitzs to start the third quarter.

We all get that but as a fan, I can absolutely moan about a bullshit call like that. It's not my job to be happy about losing. If it was a clear as day, drag him to the ground call then thats one thing but when its bullshit like this then hell yeah my fire is gonna come out. I'm a fan. On a fan site. I care. I even pegged this as ND's one loss of the year. Its horseshit and should be treated like the horseshit call that it was.

I'm not in the business of 'moral victories'.

I think it is clear that ND will have to be much better than anyone else to win the championship. So good, that even if a bad call affected the game, it wouldn't matter. We'd beat everyone by at least 10 points to avoid any controversies.

The two biggest things to me are that if they hadn't thrown the flag NOBODY would be saying it should have been thrown, and that if the teams were reversed there is no chance that flag would have been thrown.

There are 4 teams in this playoff.

If FSU is our only loss we'll be among those four...watch...

This was a big problem. BVG's blitzes are pro-style, but over time they are a bit predictable when done all the time and it just so happens that QB is going to get drafted in the first round. BVG needed to vary his alignments a little more. Some Cover 2 would have been nice, along with some more stunts and twists to generate rush from the front 4. A big part of the problem is lack of an experienced rusher from the RDE position. Trumbetti is good but he is a frosh. We don't get much rush from the outside unless we blitz, which leaves the middle of the field open for slants which FS took advantage of.

On the other hand, their defense couldn't stop us either and it took a blown call for them to win the game.

And this is the side the ACC official was on. This was his view. Defender's arm is clearly around CJ and the guy only starts acting like it was an issue once CR has caught the ball. Originally thought it might have been a correct but BS call. Now, I feel we were robbed. Two friends - both college AA in football and both anti-ND have already texted me what a bad call it was.

People need to pump the breaks on the BVG criticism. ND just hung with the best QB in college and should have won. If not for a a couple of missed tackles ND would have had a few more 3 and outs was well. The D completely shut down the FSU run game as well. If ND plays out the rest of the season like this ASU, Navy, USC and Louisville are fuckin dead meat.
