Would rather have either of the Indiana linebackers.

Would MUCH rather have Coney than Kirkland. Bilal is a completely different player than those two.

As a player Coney > Kirkland and the staff obviously agrees with that seeing as Kirkland doesn't even have a offer yet.

IMO, as a player, Coney >>>> Kirkland and Bilal. Bilal may have more raw tools, but he just screams Steve Filer to me.

If we could sign Coney, I will be superrrrr pumped.

Sure, I think Coney is potentially a really decent MIKE prospect and if the staff didn't like him more they would've offered Kirkland a long time ago.

Some people... like Coach D on ISD... don't like Bilal as a prospect. But if we're only taking 1 more LB I'd rather have someone who's as athletic and versatile as Bilal with a 4.0 GPA, not slower, MIKE-only more physical player who's torn between us and the SEC.

Don't want Kirkland even though he's probably the safest prospect to take.
Coney- meh, I don't think he comes here. Be a good player though
Bilal- Not sure why he just doesn't commit to ND and then focus on his season.

Sampson from II just posted that ND appears to be in great shape with Coney. Have won over the dad and people close to Coney thinks he should leave Florida for college. Even talking about retaking entrance exams to improve scores even though he's already qualified for ND.

If a recruit visits ND and his parents don't love it, does he have parents?

I like the Steve filer reference for Bilal. Was trying to think of somebody that he reminded me of and couldn't come up with a good one. I like Coney as a player a lot but I've been getting an uneasy feeling about his commitment for a little bit now. Especially considering he still wants to take a visit to Miami. Why visit Miami? If your top two are UF/ND what's the point in going to Miami? The only thing I come up with is he's not sold on leaving the state and making a commitment to ND for the next 4-5 years and he needs a back up plan to UF.

Currently I'm not sure that he is a take for UF. Part of the reason why I think his Miami interest is interesting.

I'm not sure Coney, he visited Gainesville Saturday, should be a take for Notre Dame. Coney and Palm Beach Gardens are having a disappointing season. Last Friday, Gardens lost to Belle Glade 40 - 20, for their second loss this season. For Tevon, his football season has taken a backseat to his recruitment, and it has become a distraction. This season, Charles Perry(Miami verbal) is the best linebacker in Palm Beach County. Perry plays both ways, and when asked if he prefers running back or linebacker, he responded - I'm a linebacker whose mindset is to get the ball back so he can become a running back!

FWIW, per rivals, gave his visit a 9.5. On his visit, it was about football, depth chart, and developing relationship with coaches and players. Didn't have any 'jazzed up' quotes in the article, so that's good. Said it will be a tough choice and mentioned, of course, both are great academic schools..

That's a pretty solid set of information there. I keep seeing, and I totally get it, people saying they would rather have the IN LB'ers, but if we can land this kid and he sticks to it, I can't see a better option personally. This kid looks like a stud from SEC country, I mean, where do I sign?

Yeah, I like Coney but would def take Kirkland as a close second. I personally don't care for Bilal to be in this class, I just think his film is underwhelming and he doesn't stand out for playing HS. That's based on the limited film I've seen.

FWIW, If I'm making a prediction only based on this recent rivals interview, Coney's going to choose ND. The quotes seemed emotionless.

IDK when Coney was offered relative to Bilal but the way I am seeing it is it is a Coney's spot since Bilal can't be bothered to visit. For whatever reason.maybe Coney realizes since UFs loss this weekend that they are bottoming out and we are rising.

The key here is does he stick. Samspon at II mentioned today that the staff loves him as a player but there are some red flags on whether he sticks or not.

Coney has a successful visit to Florida| Florida Gators

The Florida Gators hosted five official visitors this weekend for the LSU game and one of those was top linebacker prospect Tevon Coney (6-1, 222, Palm Beach Gardens, FL High) whose main mission this weekend was to get comfortable with everyone and have fun during the visit

“The visit was good, my mom, my dad, my friend and my sister came up with me this weekend,” Coney said. “I had fun at the game, before and after the game was real fun too. I got time to talk to the coaches again and hang out with the players. I had already seen a lot of Florida so I just wanted to relax and see the game day atmosphere and I did that.”

Coney considered the visit a good one and a lot of that was due to the atmosphere inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“It was a successful visit and it was the best visit out all of them,” Coney said. “I think the game was crazy and the fans were roaring. It was an electric environment but the Gators played good but they just let it slip away at the very end. I could definitely see myself playing on that field in front of those fans.”

Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin has told Coney that he would be playing the MIKE at Florida so he watched the Gators current MIKE linebacker during the game.

“Antonio Morrison played good and he’s the person I watch because Coach Durkin says he sees me replacing him or backing him up,” Coney said. “Jarrad Davis played good too. I think the whole front seven played really good. Morrison led the team in tackles.”

On Sunday before Coney and his family departed Gainesville the linebacker sat down with Will Muschamp to finish up the visit.

“Coach Muschamp didn’t put to much pressure on me this weekend,” Coney said. “He wanted to know when I was going to decide and wanted to know how I felt about Florida and if I had any questions for him. It was just a refreshment on everything.”

Durkin made sure to get the last message in with Coney and that was a message of how valuable of a prospect he is to the Florida Gators.

“Coach Durkin just wanted to know how important I was to him and how much he really wants me there,” Coney said. “He said that he needs me to come there and that I would get reps with the two’s from the get go.”

During official visits prospects have a player host and Coney was able to ask some questions to his host this weekend.

“Daniel McMillian was my host and it was fun,” Coney said. “He and all of the linebackers answered all of my questions that I had so that was nice to hear.”

For a few months now Coney has said he was going to decide in October and a date of when he will announce should be finalized soon.

“I have to talk to my principal about a date because I’m doing it on ESPN so I have to find out when they can come from my principal,” Coney said. “I’m going to do it this month though and I’m done with visits until I decide.”

The question has been going around on the talk of Muschamp being on the hot seat would affect Coney and he says that he doesn’t believe Muschamp is in trouble.

“That talk isn’t in mind at all because Coach Muschamp is a good coach and Florida has great coaches,” Coney said. “I think they are going to finish up good and I believe that everyone will be there next year.”

INSIDER BUZZ: This one is very close to call as both Notre Dame and Florida have shown Coney he’s a huge need. I think even his family is somewhat split on his decision right now as well.

That could be. Kelly has taught these kids how to win and it is a thing of beauty, well at least the win loss columns. Bilal not wanting to visit is just odd to me. I like him as a prospect more than you Koon, but I agree that his actions are not reassuring either. Hopefully Coney commits, sticks with it, and is an All-American here. I could do with a lot less of the Neal's and Lynch situations anymore.

Absolutely understand that, and I understand where everyone is coming from on this. It really does get old getting all amped up because we land x recruit and then watching them transfer out quickly to the chagrin of us fans.
