Bump.

Has there been any mention on position for this kid? Everyone keeps mentioning 1 LB and 1DL left for this class. Where does he fall in regards to prospects and their respective position?

I know. That's why I bumped it. Guess it wasn't clear.

Coney/Kirkland are ILB targets and Bilal/Wallace are OLB targets, correct? Is the staff really taking just one of these guys to round out the LB class?

I think Wallace is a potential DE as well. We don't have a ton of those still on our board so if he can play the edge, he may not impact the LB recruits, but that's a guess on my part.

Good question moving forward, what DE prospects do we still have? Porter Gustin? The Hawaiian prospect that likes Stanford alot? Has he shown any love? Are there any other premiere DEs looking at us right now?

Mekhi Brown..

Unfortunately I don't think he's flipping.

I am sure there will be other guys that pop up on the board late, either because of big senior seasons or renewed interest (especially if we keep winning). I think we are well stocked on the interior, but we absolutely need at least one more outside / pass rushing DE, preferably two.

Personally I think its 3 different decisions or groupings. Coney/Bilal/Kirkland at LB, Gusting DE, and Wallace at Def. ATH. So to answer an earlier question I don't think Wallace committing would take the other LB's spot. Might be why we are only taking 1 more LB than the previously thought 2.

So is there a consensus on the number of total spots available? By my count we are full right now so I must be counting wrong.

There's probably a thread on this; please let me know if so.

By the looks of it, there's 6 spots left, but that could swell with less 5Y.

My best guess:

RB - Soso
DB - Reid....simply a gut feeling that the staff whiffs on the others and steals him late
LB - Kirkland
TE - Jones or bust...does he actually flip?
DL - Gustin
WR - ESB

So a max of 10-12 (depending on Barratti and Russell's situations) spots before you consider possible transfers and declarations for the draft.

Obviously take Golson back, as well as an additional olinemen also.

Here's a scenario...

We get a whiff of someone the staff's been working on for a while now, maybe a guy committed somewhere else, all of the sudden he's taking an official to ND and a few days later they commit.

Then again...something like that could never happen in this day and age...

At this stage I agree with you on both points but things can change. With that said its not a point of concern for me. I think Wallace is a great project a few years out. Also, one thing this team currently has is young DE's. We brought in 4 good ones last year. Trumbetti, Blankenship, Williams, and Hill. Thats a 2 deep right there by itself. Rochelle seems to be growing into a DT but has done very well on early downs playing DE. Add in Okwara for another year and I think that's a pretty good looking group as they develop. Would I LOVE to throw Gustin into that mix and see what he can do as a freshman or Brown absolutely but I don't think this group will be giving up spots very easily.

I agree. Get as many as you can. This has a way of working out one way or another. Besides trying to keep up with the numbers, breaking it down by position, then calculating "Ath" into the picture, projecting 5Y guys, projecting who's currently one position, buty might grow into another position gives me a headache. Hell even Einstein couldn't do it on his best days! lol

Fierce Pass-Rusher Schedules Notre Dame Official Visit
just a few seconds ago
New Orleans John Curtis three-star defensive end Bo Wallace wasn't planning on visiting Notre Dame until after his season. However, that changed this week and the 6-3, 215-pound recruit booked his flight for South Bend.

Wallace, who has offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA and many others, first picked up an offer from the Irish on Feb. 25. He made his first trip to campus on June 4 and left very impressed with Notre Dame as a whole.

“I had a really good time,” said Wallace. “It was nice getting shown around campus and seeing all the tradition and how much Notre Dame has won in the past. The campus was really nice. I liked it a lot. It was also cool seeing the room with all the Heisman trophies.”

Wallace admits that he had a great time in South Bend for that initial visit, but his parents may have enjoyed the trip even more.

“I think my parents had an even better time than I did,” said Wallace. “They really put a lot of stress on going somewhere that I can get a great education and Notre Dame definitely showed that to us. Notre Dame had academic presentations and showed different options for majors and the trip wasn’t really about just football. We all liked it a lot.

“Notre Dame doesn’t just say that I should come play ball here because they want me on the field. They stress life after football and how it’s a lifetime decision. It’s not really about right now, but down the road in life. That really impressed my parents. I could tell.”

Although he's being recruited as a defensive end by Notre Dame, 247Sports ranks Wallace as the No. 28 outside linebacker nationally and the No. 18 player in Louisiana from the class of 2015.

For those that have seen his film or camps, what are the thoughts?

I'd obviously rather have Porter/Melkhi if possible, but wondering after those two where Bo sits.

Wouldn't we want to poach the committed UM DE before Wallace?

Mekhi looks like a hard pull he is in love with all that Alabama is like most of these kids are. Bo Wallace would be a good pick up especially in a BVG defense. Plus Wiltfong gave his seal of approval its a done deal.

In Wiltfong i trust
