The BWI topic on Wimbush just fell apart into a Sandusky debate. Please go read.

From BWI:

"Re: Wimbush to Notre Dame***

I'm too partial to Penn State, but if I was 17 and had a offer from both, I'd probably go ND to be honest. Academics wise it's pretty good."

Those guys have their nuts, but what I've read is pretty rational and fair.

Golson, Ziare, Kizer, Wimbush . . . Not saying all will stay their entire eligibility but with those four we look like we are shored up at QB for quite some time!

Exiting HS Wimbush will be farther along than both Zaire and Kizer were, IMO. I'm interested to see how hard he can push Zaire after Golson leaves.

This is the thing if Golson stays next year which he will then the competition will be on a level playing field compared to when Kiel came in. We will most likely get at least one to two transfers but that will be later seen.

You are conditioned by ND history, my friend. It's not like every time a school has three good QB's, one is always destined to transfer.

I disagree with you. Usually if a team has a few good QB's close in classes one usually transfers.

For me it seems as though the odd man out will be Kizer. Zaire will more than likely lock down QB after Golson's departure after next season. That will leave Zaire with 2 years at the helm and Wimbush, once Zaire departs, with 2 years at the helm as well.

I could see that. I hope not, but could see it. Huge fan of all 4 of these kids! Would definitely understand though.

I agree. Kizer certainly looks the part, though (not that it matters). Could he play another position? He strikes me as the type that's not going to transfer and he's built like a brick sh!thouse.

Golson would be playing his final year. There are plenty of teams that have 3 good QB's on their roster (including us... right now...). I doubt Wimbush has any delusions of unseating Golson in his farewell season. So that leaves one stacked 4 QB year. After that, back to 3 solid QB's. That is a situation a ton of teams go through. 1) Big time returning starter 2) blue chip backup 3) punky wide-eyed frosh. It's not uncommon at all.

Shoot... USC lived in that world for the better part of the 2000's.

But, as unpolished and unimpressive as Kizer may have been in high school relative to Zaire/Wimbush... and the fact that he is significantly slower... Kizer probably has the best pro upside of any of them due to his size and decent overall athleticism even if he lacks blazing foot speed.

So it's easy to project how Kizer would be the odd man out, but I could also simultaneously see Kizer snatching the starting job depending on his development.

Tommy Rees started multiple seasons for this team.

I will never count any QB out of the starter competition.

We shall see how this all turns out. So many crazy things can happen (injury, academics, transfer, etc) that i think we need to take a QB every year. It looks like we got a damn good one coming our way in Brandon! It will be a great competition.
