I can agree with that.. I just don't see them coming here If they can find a way around It

Lol. If ND and Stanford were both undefeated, I think they would have no choice but to come. To bad...

They don't need to go to New York to "get around" going to ND for the Stanford game. If they don't want to go to the Stanford game, they won't.

And why, exactly, would they not want to?

Gameday's not going to be at the Stanford game for several reasons.
Because they were there two years ago.
Because the game's on NBC.
Because they're probably eyeing the FSU game a few weeks later and won't want to overdo Notre Dame (especially if they're doing the Syracuse game. Is that for real?)
But mostly because Alabama plays at Ole Miss the same day, both will be in the top ten and they've somehow never been to Ole Miss. That'll be a fairly epic scene.
Frankly I'd go to Oxford too.

What possible good could come from those arse-bags being around the program right now? Let's be serious, it's ND-Syracuse. That's like the US Marines v. Cub Scout troop 1204 out of Duckfart, Wisconsin. Secondly, all that does is open the team, the coaches and the ND community up to the scrutiny that is "The Suspensions". Endless questions about those not with us when they could be focusing on the objective...The reason that they're in NY to begin with. Gameday, and more specifically Desmond Coward could stay away all year for all I care.

I agree that THOSE are reasons not to do the Stanford game. The dude I replied to was arguing that they're going to do the Syracuse game as a way to get out of doing the Stanford game, as if they'd be obligated to do so otherwise.

An ND Stanford '12 repeat would be epic for them once again.. but the NBC thing always lingers and they avoid unless no other possibility..

Not really my argument what so ever.. I just said I can't see them coming in consecutive years to the same game.. I'm sure he can read too

But what does that have to do with Syracuse? You're the one who linked the two, not me.

I don't have all the answers and I know that. I wasn't trying to be short.. I guess when Herbstreit says we'll see ya next week; ND at Syracuse! I may have jumped the gun but I still think they'll be there.

I think he was trying to say, that if gameday HAD to choose between the two, they would take Cuse over Stanford

They don't have to choose though, there's no obligation for them to go to ND

Having it on nbc doesn't matter, it hasn't stopped them before

If ND and ASU have good records I can see game day being at that game. Would be a great scene.

But they aren't going to do more than one gameday with ND (typically)

So, they'd choose the most unique/best game

In 2012 Gameday was at 3 ND games; Stanford, Oklahoma, USC. In 2002 off the top of my head Gameday was at back to back ND games against Air Force and FSU. Might have also been at the USC game that year also.

I know, I remember.

My point is, I doubt espn wants to follow ND around and do 2-3 gameday matchups. Especially when there are other options (Ole Miss vs Bama)

I'd much rather this young team get 1-2 of those, ND vs FSU and potentially ND vs USC

Yeah gameday has no problem repeating teams each year. They generally try not to go to the same campus twice, but even that happens. But as others have pointed out, they likely aren't coming to South Bend this year due to the other matchups during Stanford week, and I also don't see them going to NYC next week. But who knows, few matchups next week are very enticing.

An interesting option I've heard mentioned is for the 100th anniversary of the Yale Bowl in New Haven. They've been known to go to less prominent sites for interesting reasons/stories, so that may qualify as one.

They did in 2012 (Stanford, Oklahoma, USC), but that was an unusual year.

As for holding it at Notre Dame, they've only been twice since 2001, for USC in '05 and Stanford in '12. (interestingly, they came to ND in '93 (the first ever vs. FSU), '94, '95, '96, '98 and 2000). Since 2001, they've done 13 of our road games.

I think it's fair to think the network that's broadcasting the game is a factor. They'll come to Notre Dame if it's a huge game, but all being equal, they'll go somewhere else and catch us on the road.

This is more on Syracuse than anyone. Had they won I think we'd have gameday. Fucking vandy too.
