Eh he's a good kid........ seemingly very in touch with his feminine side the way he changes his mind. I wish him luck.

He was never a real Notre Dame kid though, just a mommas boy.

He's lighting it up and throwing perfect balls, but he's not checking down at all. Doesn't mean he can't, just hasn't had to yet. He's hitting the open man so not much you can say against his play so far.

He was/is a sheltered kid. I was on the plane with him and his dad back from Miami, and we chatted a bit. Dad dominated the conversation, as Gunner kind of sheepishly would add a few short responses here and there. Very nice people though, I have absolutely nothing against them.

Just broke Tony Pike's single-game TD school record by throwing his 7th TD pass of the game.

EDIT: Now the commentator says he tied it with 6. Must have misspoke before the commercial break.

Thank goodness EG is lighting it up. I can only imagine what some ND fans would be saying right now.

If EG WASN'T lighting it up... would you blame them after GK's performance?

Yup...I'm happy for the kid.

Just don't think you can measure a QB, at all, when his receivers are all wide open, and no pass rush.

Golson, on the other hand, had to make pinpoint passes vs Michigan, to receivers who were always closely covered.

Like watching your daughter light it up on the soccer field, vs a weak opponent.

Wait till she plays the good team, to judge her performance.

Are you applying the same logic to Golson? Because we haven't played a good opponent.

Sorry I can't root.for someone who transferred because of playing time when had he stayed he'd prob be the starter.or at least in a strong competition

With that being said, id take last season and Golson this year vs Kiel last year and having a quarterback controversy

Kiel may very well be a better passer, but overall he cannot makes the plays Golson makes - and makes look easy mind you. I would take Golson 7 days a week, and twice on Saturdays, over any QB in the country sans Mariota and Winston.

All I can think of is Les. Poor woman that married his bitch ass.

Why's that? He was right about Kiel.
The kid may do wonders at Cincy and go play on Sundays for a decade. But at that point in time he didn't have the maturity, competitiveness, "chest," whatever you want to call it, to handle being QB1 at LSU or at Notre Dame - as his bailing when he did demonstrated, he couldn't even win a fight to be QB2.
I don't wish him ill, but I don't think he'll ever really be missed either, no matter how many TDs he throws for the Bearcats.

^This 100% and I want to see what kind of leader he is when up against a good defense.

Wish him continued success, he has a great QB name.
It'd would be a heck of a testament to ND if two QB commits ended up in the running for Heisman.

At the time he left, there was no way to know Golson would be gone for a year. He was buried behind him and there was not going to be a controversy. Golson all day over GK.

I'd love to have him. Last year would have likely been a lot different. But we are where we are and I love our QB situation moving forward.

Hope he does well and I hope Golson does better.

Throwing that many TD's against anybody is difficult. This same Toledo team beat Navy, WMU, CMU (who waxed Purdue last week) and played Missouri tough last year. Sure, they aren't world beaters, but let's give credit where it's due. Anybody that watched the game will attest, Gunner played a flawless game in his first outing ever.
