You guys just coming around to the power of Team Ferttita? Seriously fellas?

As SOON as his older brother who's in his second year at Nova was a junior, they should have offered him too. They'd be 3 years deeper into Bishop Gorman's pockets.

...and after seeing Nicco play I am going to go on record and say, he will be a cross between Mike Anello and Tom Zbikowski and every bit the fan favorite both were. He hits like a truck and he's playing against the best in the country... this isn't some kid from Podunk Kansas playing 8 on 8. They play the best schedule I've ever seen.

The only thing that keeps Jones out of South Bend is if he wants guaranteed playing time his freshman year. ND is stacked at the position obviously BUT you can pretty much guarantee a big check after 3-4 years of service. It's a tough choice.

What will be interesting is if Broadus wants to part of the posse or maybe more importantly... if Snoop wants to hang with all the celebs at the "Country Club".... I mean Notre Dame Stadium... or if he wants to lead his kid back to LA to his beloved Trojans or the crosstown Bruins. Wonder how Snoop would feel every Saturday having to sit next to another player's parent who's sold 3x as many albums?

I know Shaq put out albums (and classic films)...didn't know David Robinson put out so many hits tho

I have read in several places that Fertitta plays bigger than his size would foretell.
I have no problem with 3*

From my understanding, momma calls the shots, and not Snoop......unless I read it wrong.

This argument doesn't work for guys like Michael Sam (or thousands similar to him), Defensive POY in the best conference in college football, gets cut in the pros. Why does it work flawlessly for high school to college?

The level of competition from HS to college is more similar than going from college to NFL. Having only 250+ kids drafted per year out of tens of thousand potential candidates, makes it the best of the best.

Agree with most of this, but Broadus will be in glitter city.

Right. How many of the NFLguys come from Junior college or FCS teams. A kid from my home town made the Giants roster. He went to Newberry College and scored three TDs during preseason.

Nothing is flawless. What are you really asking?

He is saying that just because a high school player is an all state all everything player it doesn't mean that it necessarily will translate to college. I guess he is asking why people see the example of POY guys like Sam fail at the NFL level, but cant translate it to the argument for a high school player.

Why would you ever pass on a talent like this? You may whiff on Hausmann and be left with nothing. You can simply bury Heuermann on depth chart.

This is what I don't get at all. Aliz'e is the top player at his position. Why even recruit another player at Jaylon's position, unless we think Martini leaves let's go all in on the top OLB for '16.

I don't see the logic at all.

If we are in the driver's seat for a recruit who is #1 at their position, then we need to keep the pedal to the floor so we don't lose him. Aliz'e could steal time as early as his true freshman year, other's opinions be damned.

He also looks the part of a complete TE and a great pass catcher.

Jones is rated higher than any TE we've recruited since Rudolph. Passing on him would be a fuck up of epic proportions.

Passing on the #1 recruit at his position this year in the hopes of getting #1 next year is a fool's game. If Jones want to come to ND, it's a no-brainer. If we're overstocked at TE, one of them can become a big WR, or a DE or whatever. I want all the Big Skill.
And what's this about Heuerman leaving?

If he comes to ND, I think Huerman will have to make way. From all I have read, he has had lingering injuries and has not bulked up to where the staff need him to play TE. Then there is Weishar.... I don't think he is the inline TE like smyth or Koyack are. Luatua is a little short now but a beast at blocking.

In our first two game , Smyth, Luatua and Koyack have all played and performed different duties. If Jones wants in, bring him in. He will play.

We just had our biggest recruiting weekend of the year, and a lot of guys that have us in their top group were there and we couldn't even get one commit. Same story at Irish invasion. We're not bama, we have a chane at top talent we shouldn't be playing games. Take that talent immediately IMO.

I think it is really curious. I respect all of your opinions, and I think it is fun to talk about every aspect of this. But it just occurred to me how "right" the coaching staff has been with their choices. Spooky right. The three stars they have brought in have all contributed and some have developed to studs. They have made the best decision on almost every recruit except those that have failed because of character issues; and my experience in those issues is that individuals of that ilk can pull the wool over almost anyone's eyes.

I am pretty good with the staffs decisions right now. I spend most of my time thinking of it in terms of how and why the staff will play it, not whether or not.

Good point. BK and staff seem to have the knack for finding those underrated players. Most of the time, the difference between the elite and the very good is so small you may not recognize it until you see them play in person. Then you pick up on the little nuances (a little quicker, recognizes quicker, etc.) that separate them from the very good.

I don't think anyone expected commits this past weekend or at II. Both of the experiences you mentioned provided good results and most of the guys are scheduling officials or return visits later. Its not an emergency like your post seems to claim. Most of the recruits left on our board are big timers that are probably gonna go to the end of their recruitment anyway.

Jones is coming back in December. That is a REALLLLY BIG positive.

Jones knows ND develops top TE.... Getting him in December is HUGE.. that is prime flip time... We can flip him and not give him much time for others to counter

Is his December trip for a game or for the awards banquet? If it's the latter, I'd almost consider him locked up barring an epic fail during the season.
