Exactly, I think Anna is on to something here. He seems to be getting run down by the process and he isn't even spending much time on it.

Agreed, hope he makes this trip this weekend as expected and commits. Problem solved

I love following recruiting, but this may not one that is worth investing any time in until he's made up his mind. The kid does his own thing-- no reading the tea leaves and no drama to keep the waiting interesting.

Is he "supposed" to visit this weekend, or are people just hoping? I don't see a visit listed on 247.

The kid goes to school less than 10 miles from where one of his Top 2 schools is playing.

Told Anna he probably will visit, he'll let her know.

Kid beats to his own drum.

He'd really be a boss if he gets Anna to pick him up and drive him to the game. Then to a hilltop to gaze at the stars after the game.

That's good to hear! Man, I wish he would have visited last week though, BVG can make this kid shine if he ends up at ND!

7 miles according to Mapquest, so he could jog it if he wanted to. Considering it is in his backyard, if he didn't attend I would be real worried. I'm just guessing here, but maybe he didn't visit last week, because he knew he'd be coming to the Purdue game since it's so much closer.

Or he just really doesn't care about football. He made a comment before about never having watched college football on TV either.

Is he like a better version of Kendall Moore? Doesn't really care to play?

I feel like Bilal is a hard working kid, but might just not be into football like most kids are. Nothing wrong with that, just trying to get a read.

He's an amazing student, has all the physical traits you want (except frame?), and everything else... and I think he cares about football when he's the one playing it?... but just isn't a fan of the game otherwise. Which is odd but who knows if that's even accurate. He's just had some quotes about not watching football and not having favorite teams because he doesn't watch football, etc. ... and the fact that he passed up a trip to this Michigan game is kind of crazy if you're just a fan of football in general.

There are a lot of people, especially when they are young, that like to play sports but not watch them. But I do think its interesting. I like the kids we have right now, with their bad attitudes- hopefully he has that on the field.

I'm pretty sure Steve Elmer is one of them. I'm pretty sure I read that in an article when he was still being recruited

Think some here are being too hard on the kid. A lot of athletes love to play the game but pay little attention to it when not playing. Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker were both like that. As a Steelers fan I know Troy Polamalu LOVES to play the game but when not on the field doesn't really follow other games. I've heard Bilal is sick of recruiting and knows it's either ND or Michigan. Likely ND. He's a very bright, humble kid who is a yes sir, yes maam kind of person. Personally I take absolutely nothing from his attending a game or not.

So why not just commit and have this all be over?

If he hates the process so much, he can just decide and shut his phone off. No one is going to prod him if he is already a commit. The "losing" school and media will try to talk to him for a while, but then it'll be over when they learn that he's done.

LOL. If you believe what you wrote you know little about recruiting.

I've been around sports, at various levels, my whole life and I NEVER met a kid who wasn't into sports on TV, trading cards or mags like SI, when he wasn't playing them. You played till it rained or got dark and watched it / read about it till you went to sleep.

It's probably the ill effects of video games.

But what do I know... My father was the largest wholesale distributor of Mattel video games in the world and I rarely messed with them unless I was sitting on the throne. Boring. Now kids... and adults play video games every day... all day. Maybe they want to play dungeons and dragons online with their buddies instead of following sports?

More power to them. Nothing is more worthless than a grown man having his weekend ruined because some 19-year old kids he's never even met didn't play well enough on his TV screen.

OK I get the fact that some people might not like to watch sports in their free time even if they like to play it.

But we aren't talking about going to a game just to watch a game. We are talking about going to a game to see how the coaches interact with their players and what a typical game day might be like. I would think any player being recruited (regardless of whether they like watching games or not) would want to attend a game as part of the recruiting process.

However, I could see Bilal not being overly interested in attending this particular game, even though it's so close, if he is planning on attending a ND home game where he would get the whole experience.
