DE or DT in a 4-3?

Honestly, probably DT. I know he's only about 250 now, but he'll probably gain at least 10-15 pounds over the next year. He's not necessarily a fast guy on the edge, but he has absolutely insane power. He can shatter a brick wall with his upper body strength. Kind of like Tuitt, just a bit less speedy off the edge, but perhaps a bit stronger.

I just returned from the Michigan game, I walked by the recruiting tent/party. It was really cool with a DJ and great music in front of Gug complex. I didn't know who most of the recruits were but saw Kings name tag from a distance. I don't know anything about how good he is but let me tell all on this board. This kid is absolutely huge and athletic looking. Made EVERYBODY else look small. Including every other lineman.

After seeing how we exposed scUM as a bunch of Nancy boys, it's no surprise Hoke and his boys are out of it.

King would be a monster pick up for '16, and it'd be great to get a couple bookend DEs on the board early in this class. Couple that with Henry and a couple top flight linemen and we are well on our way to one of the best recruiting classes in Notre Dame history.

This could be the year, but I swear we say that every year, lol.

IMO, junior recruits rave about their early visits and interest more because they haven't yet been bombarded with attention. So I take their interest with a grain of salt for the most part.

In fairness, we haven't dominated competition like we have the past two weeks. The domination HAS to continue against teams like Purdue.

Ha ha, I agree. I always think "we might finally have a top 2 class this year". There is one key difference, Kelly has his QB. If we stay healthy, I expect a lot of recruits to take notice and this is really just the beginning. Kelly is now getting his system in place to replicate this kind of success.

I don't think we are world beaters but I'm starting to see what an amazing job Kelly did the last 4 years. He has managed a horrid QB situation and completely switched from his preferred game plan to get Ws. He won more games in his first four years than any other coach and he did it with Crist, Rees and a frosh Golson. That is really incredible.

Now that he has some athletes on his side, an OL built to last and a QB who can execute his preferred game plan, we are seeing a completely different ND squad. I'm guessing Purdue and Syracuse are going to show how far we've come.

If we don't top 50 in at least one of those games, I'll be surprised.

Kid is a freak of an athlete. I posted in this thread previously that he was an all state wrestler as well. On a wrestling mat he has physical heavy hands, and has great hips. As of last wrestling season, he was still a bit long and lanky, Ed Ruth body type. He has a frame to add weight, and I could see he being a great football player. FWIW He was wrestling at 220lbs.

He's visiting for the March Junior Day. However, he says its the 7th. So either we're having two in March or the dates are not accurate. Also, mentions that Robby Regan is one of his best friends and playing with him for the next few years would be pretty awesome. He's staying local what he calls Big Ten region. Its ND, OSU, MSU, and UM. ND being two hours from home fits him perfectly.

Fits me perfectly as well. The other schools equate to 4-7 hour drives.

Might be my biggest want in 2016.

I'll second that. Because he's still wrestling, 41-1 on the season, he's not adding the necessary weight that he'll eventually have. 6'6 220 at the moment. He's going to be a beast at the next level and I think we have a really good chance as well.

This is an old article about his weight/wrestling.

Hinsdale South sophomore Josh King losing battle to shed pounds - High School Cube News | High School Cube News

The Hinsdale South sophomore wrestler battled to stay at the 220-pound class this season, but a 6-foot-6 Division I football prospect eventually learns that keeping weight off gets to be tougher and tougher.

I agree, I think he's going to blow up as soon as he stops cutting weight.
