Since tonight's joyous game calls for optimism, I'm presently even more excited about ND's season. Say the team gets IW, KR, and DD back. Then in a week or 2, the team also gets Grace, Hunter, and Hardy back. Even more riches for the team!

The Post Game thread on /r/CFB is also very enjoyable. These skunkbear tears are incredibly satisfying. Wish we could bottle this vintage and savor it for years to come.

I think we just provided the first major nail in Hoke's coffin. He's likely to take Brandon down with him at the end of year. Should we start praying now for another bad hire? A 3rd one could crater the program permanently.

I hope not I'd be happy with them plodding along so we get some distance in the Winningest PerCentage List.

Had the late INT return for a TD stood, that would have been the most points ND ever scored vs. Michigan. Too bad.

Lol it's a conspiracy maaaaaan.

Seriously, use your brain. If there WAS a big conspiracy, don't you think ESPN would rather have Notre Dame's fanbase and their money glued to their TVs for the upcoming ACC games and whatever bowl/playoff?

Sure, but I think they'd rather hate on ND and appease the other billions of fans that hate them.

WOW.....so so much to like about tonight's game.

I can't remember a team tackling any better. The defense was truly amazing. The swarming defense seemed assignment sound all night, which is spectacular when you consider the variety of schemes and young players in the game. Whatever they are paying BVG.....well it isn't enough. Love the fearless style of football the defense played tonight. I can't believe I am watching ND when I see such an aggressive, press coverage style of modern day defense.

The only possible nitpicks one could have was the start of the game for the offense (disorganized...and poor execution), some dropped passes, and the run game. Michigan's defensive front is very good...and add in Mattison, well the line play was really not bad. Pass protection was solid...and the line will continue to emerge and gel as the year progresses.

Finishing the rivalry like this.....with the big recruiting weekend to top it off.....well it is hard to think it can get much better than this.

Michigan should be an 8 win team (unless Funchess is out for an extended period)....so I dont see how anyone can discount this victory. Great win....great night...WOW....still can't really believe it....

Does anyone keep snap counts for these games? I'd be interested to know what guys play the most snaps

After tonight, I'm convinced Hoke is the worst coach in college football. He was an embarrassment to the Michigan program, and the coaching profession, throughout the entire game. I'll do more coaching during my son's 2nd/3rd grade game tomorrow than he did tonight.

I can't believe Michigan nation is saying Mattison sucks. You know the guy all week they said would get Golson killed

As far as post game observations go, I mostly agree with what's been said already-- Golson looked good, D looked good, OL was good in pass pro, but bad in the run game, RB's and/or OL didn't look good, the drops sucked.

The only new info I can add is on the defensive side. I can't quite put my finger on their play. They definitely looked good tonight, but maybe not outstanding. I think the same thing can be said about their performance last week (minus 3 or 4 plays). Maybe it is the fact that this year, ND can send 20+ or so guys out there that all can really play. There's not a drop off in play or performance. Also, I think the change in scheme to BVG from BD, helps. The sub packages and substitutions, while prevalent, almost seem unnoticeable from a performance standpoint. All the defenders seem able to literally give 100% while they're in the game due to their freshness. And I think this is maintainable throughout the season. I think it may be difficult for opponents to watch film and scheme against the ND defense when they're sending so many players onto the field. It's tough to tell a college QB to key in on 3 or 4 different CB's, 3 or 4 different Safety's, etc. Same goes with the OL when there are 3 or 4 different DL lining up against them. Hopefully it becomes information overload for them.

BGIF-- don't you access a site that does this? I think you even mentioned something about it in last week's post game thread. You don't have to post the info on here yourself, but if you (or anybody) know of a site that tracks the snap log, I'd really appreciate knowing what it is.
