Great game. Great feeling

What I didn't like:

Not much offensive consistency in the second half (that will kill us in tight games)

The offensive line was getting no push and our run game was awful. We couldn't have rushed for over 70 yards.

Drops. Drops. Drops. I think we've already had more drops this year than all of last year combined. Have to get this under control.

But a great game to move forward.

I agree with the drops. Not sure I agree with consistency since they were just trying to run the ball and UM prob knew it was coming. Plus, I really think this running back by committee causes inconsistency in the ability for a back to get going. I think all 3 played well, but it just makes it tough---so maybe I'm actually agreeing with you now haha.

Hated the time mis-management early. Pretty sure everyone did.

Looking for some more attentive ND fans here... Does the fact that Michigan out gained us dismiss the dominance of this win at all? I was watching in a bar and can't recall the drive trends during the game.

And to add---I really hope one of the 3 completely establishes themselves soon with my desire to be Cam as the switch up/goal line guy.

Only flaw I saw today was run blocking. Absolutely no holes for any of the RBs to get through. Most of the "bigger" run plays were the RBs breaking tackles and making people miss. If i remember correctly, on one run, the Dline almost intercepted the handoff.

Everything else was great, Defense was a major surprise, but I am equally as surprised in a lack of a consistent run game.

Turnovers will do that. Pressure from the front 4 and blitz was insane. Seemed like UM would turn over and we'd run maybe 3-5 plays and punt

Fantastic game. Impressed, esp. with the lack of mental mistakes by such a young group. That was absolutely stunning.

Only really negative (besides a few dropped passes, which you'll have) was the lack of consistent running game.

But really, short of winning a national title, this is a sweet win, esp. given who the rival was, the circumstances under which they were played, and their utter assholishness over the last three years.

Yeah. It didn't seem like Kelly was really opening the playbook once we got up by so much.

Probably wanted to minimize risk, and since the defense was playing so well, let them win it for us.

No. Screw Michigan. They never entered the red zone. That is the most important stat of the night next to the final score.

What Michigan doesn't understand: We didn't stop playing you because we're scared. We stopped playing you because you suck and we're on the rise!

Nice job overall tonight! It's funny I always complain and say why can't the Irish just blow teams out, well they did tonight and I was board! Game was won up front from jump street, the QB play again was impressive and the running games was good when it had to be. I still am not crazy about some of the zone blitzes I hate Romeo was one on one with #1. I just wish the big ten had a better night! The big ten looked awful tonight and as much as I love beating Michigan the reality is with the rest of the conference falling on those face it isn't going to mean a whole hell of a lot!

Turnovers, two missed FG's, and a stuff on fourth down could be the reason. Our run blocking was suspect all night long...hard for the three backs to get going. Everything they got was on their own.

The fact that it was basically 37-0 negates that fact to me. I'm actually shocked that ND scored so much with only 280yds of offense now that you mention it. Not worried about that, other than run game. Didn't really need the run game it seems.

I never realized that until you mentioned it. That makes it even sweeter. Looks like BVG held a few things back from the rice game. lol

No, turnovers and good field position caused this. We had a few drives cut short by us crossing the goal line. Also, BK worked the clock the second half instead of attacking.

Last week it was pass protection. This week run blocking. Thinking they put it together next week and Purdue gets made an example of.

I'll get the irritating remark out of the way first: Michigan is not a terrible team --- that's GOOD for us, folks. Unfortunately, if we actually laid up both Funchess and Gardner, we've turned them into a terrible team, and won't get the credit we deserve for kicking their a$$.

Michigan's defensive front is pretty good; give our OLine some credit for holding up against them. Golson did have time to throw [within the context of the plays called] almost all of the time. Folston's style of running wasn't matched with the situation; Bryant's would have been better, but McDaniel was the best RB tonight. We're blessed with 3 when a lot of teams have none.

Fuller was unguardable. They were scared of him. Carlisle was too quick for them. My guess is that if we wanted, both Robinson and Koyack were too big for them. Only Brown seemed not well matched for their DBacks.

Brian Van Gorder...... who was that other DC we used to have? Lord I like this guy's style! 21st century defense. Little less mass, a lot more speed and swarming agility. Even Michigan's GOOD plays hardly went anywhere. And unlike previous seasons, the Hammer and Lightning of the "TURNOVER DEMONS" always lurked.

Gameballs on defense: Sheldon Day, Jaylon Smith, Cody Riggs, and I'm going to give a secret one to Justin Utupo --- every time he was in he seemed to stuff one side of the scrimmage; and Kolin Hill --- star in the making I think.

Actually, dammed near the whole defense could get a game ball.

Really good to say goodbye to these XXXXXXX this way. I feel a little bad for my friend who is one of the guys I have lunch with each week --- he may not show up for a while.

Do you blame him? lol

With OSU getting beat by 14, we may get ranked around #10 or #11.

Last week we struggled with pass blocking, but that was corrected this week. The run blocking was not great, but it almost seemed like they wanted Golson to beat them with his arm. Anyone notice he always had his head downfield when scrambling? The run game needs to pick up yes, but we shut out Michigan 31-0!

Yup. Run blocking sucked and it's a concern moving forward.

1. Not as flashy as last week, but Golson was great tonight. Was throwing some serious lasers.

2. Will Fuller has questionable hands, but he had a great game tonight.

3. Amir Carlisle is a beast. We finally found our slot receiver, looks like.

4. CJ Prosise has the worst hands of all time.

5. Great game in pass protection, shitty run blocking. Mixed bag for the OL.

6. The defense was fabulous. Even the usual suspects (Farley, Shumate) showed up tonight. Love it.

Jaylon, wow.

Everett is everything I thought he would be. This is exciting.

Impressed by a lot of young guys. Cage and Hill are already looking great.

Farley was actually very solid tonight. Nice.

Receivers had too many drops. Think Golson might have thrown for 350+ if not for them. Either way, I am not overly concerned about that at this point.

VanGorder and I had similar celebrations for many plays. That is awesome.
