Well, then add one more to that list, because I didn't see anything on that tape that impressed me. Certainly not the cheap shot he pulled on the final play of the clip. I have no idea what made him think that was a good thing to put on a highlight reel. They were completely away from the play and he saw that the other guy wasn't paying attention to him (why would he, the play is no where near either of them) and hit a defenseless player. Bush league shit.

Not impressed.

I agree bruh, but I have said this from day 1.

Captain of the best HS team in the country, shows out well at every camp, we have open scholarships every single year, his "floor" is a Mike Anello caliber special teams impact player, has A+ intangibles, and is a leader of this recruiting class who puts in more work than some coaches.

Give it a fucking rest already. If you can't appreciate how this was a great offer for ND, then you're extremely narrow minded.

In addition to him being an undersized hard nose player who I view as a solid addition, I think exposure due to his dad, plays at a school that produces div1 talent on the regular is just added bonus.....look we just awarded 4 walk ons...not sure why there would even be a?

After initially being skeptical of the offer, I've come around on Nicco for many of the reasons Lax listed above, but he doesn't "know how to hit" or tackle. His junior year highlight reel is a tutorial on how not to tackle and he cost his team 15 yards on the first play of that 4-clip highlight posted yesterday (I assume that late flag was on him for "targeting").

Of course that can and will be corrected when he gets on campus, but I hope he doesn't hurt himself before he arrives in South Bend.

I'm looking forward to next week's game vs. Servite/ESB.

I didn't see anyone say anything regarding that clip about us not offering him. That certainly wasn't my intent. I don't care if he has an offer or not, simply because we always have scholarships available and he can play multiple positions.

But let's not blow smoke up eachother's asses here. His floor isn't Mike Anello, his floor is not making an impact to our team on gameday. Hopefully his ceiling is high because of the intangibles and willingness to work hard...but... Watch the tape, he isn't CURRENTLY a real solid player. His best best trait is that he likes to hit, but doesn't do it well fundamentally and too small to play the brand of football he does on the D1 level. He is not only undersized, but also not that fast. Hopefully when he gets here is fits in well and can grow both physically and mentally in order to contribute to the team. We all want him to do well.

But it drives me crazy when a three minute clip of mediocre plays (one of which, should have been a penalty) and everyone starts talking about how impressive this kid looks in it. It's like watching the twilight zone. If Nicco was a Michigan commit and we watched this tape, no one would be saying any of the comments above. I'm not trying to say he shouldn't come here, i'm just being a realist.

Said from the start the kid reminds me of Mathieu. Just plays violent and has crazy strong hands. Love that play there where he scoops the fumble up as opposed to diving on it. That just screams Mathieu to me. He's trying to make a play as opposed to playing it safe and diving on it. Love seeing that.

Also, I don't care if he weighs 170, we could've used him this past year against Navy.

Think he's the type of kid who may not be a "starter" but will be used a lot whether its blitzing off the edge or taking the place of the Sam on passing downs.

I have the perfect position for Nicco Fertitta - sitting next to Jesse Bongiovi on the Notre Dame bench.

If Austin Collinsworth can be a multi year starter at ND then I don't see how Nico can be ruled out so easily

I must be narrow minded but I still don't see any benefit up to this point at ND. If you're worried about not getting up to 85 scholarships then spend a scholly on a kid who's a freak athlete with no football background. Find a freaking Bruce Heggie for all I care - somebody with size/measurable that makes sense to offer. Mike Anello caliber special teams player? Mike Anello was a fucking boss - we'll see if Fertitta becomes as accomplished as a guy who didn't have a scholarship to play at ND until his senior season.

Notre Dame gives out three scholarships to some Rudy wannabes and nobody makes a peep, but we offer a three star kid and people freak the hell out.
