Don't see this soap opera straying much from the script.

Not sure if it's been reported yet, but USF strength coach on an interesting tweet.

Hans Straub @CoachStraubUSF
Follow
Thought an organization with 5 Super Bowl titles would have a stricter draft criteria. Clearly, integrity & character are not a priority.

And we want to know why our young adults act the way they do.

Probably didn't help Mr. Straub's case his job that his boss is tight with Harbaugh and reportedly vouched for Lynch at length. A good reminder, though, that teenagers have no monopoly on ill-conceived use of social media.

Head coach loses credibility with current players, and more especially, potential recruits, when his assistants undermine his authority as leader of the program.

It makes practical sense that he would resign.

Wait.

Is a distinction between "resign" and "re-sign" being attempted here?

Rezine battles it out with resine???

Sure he resigned, after he was told you have two choices, get fired with no severance or resign and we'll give you a severance package.

@Alex_Flanagan: ND fans remember Aaron Lynch, the LBer who transferred to S. Florida?
The 49ers just activated him from Physically Unable to Perform List

I don't really understand how or why anyone would pull for Aaron. I rooted for him hard when I thought he was a good kid just needing proper guidance, but he's proved himself to be different than that.

When you pull for Aaron Lynch, you're rooting for an ("alleged") woman beater. You're rooting for a guy that was by all accounts a complete asshole and douchebag. You're rooting for a guy who lacks class and maturity and believes in quitting when the going gets tough.

To each their own, but I can't root for someone like that. Same reason I can't root for guys like Floyd Mayweather. Just some food for thought. I'd rather see a better person get his roster spot.

Yup, he was given every opportunity to take a different path and chose not to on a personal level. I bolded this part specifically because from just a football perspective this is a kid that doesn't care about the game enough to be in good shape for himself or his teammates. He actually got worse from his freshman to junior year, lack of work ethic is tough to root for.

Do you by chance root for Michael Floyd?

Mike was the antithesis of Lynch, save a handful of poor choices while drinking.

Good guy, good teammate, made friends outside the football team, came back from a well-deserved punishment, stayed in shape, worked hard, etc.

Not sure what you're getting at here?

Agreed, making mistakes is one thing. We all make mistakes, thats what being a human is all about. However, doing so with no intention of getting better or remorse is completely different. I'll go all in on Aaron once he does himself. Until then I'll sit this one out.

He's by no means my favorite player but I would like to see him do well. I don't really know him or his situation extremely well but I still hold out hope that a kid in his low twenties could get things turned around and get his head screwed on straight. He seemed to have good guidance at ND for a year and he was a beast on the field...as a true freshman.

I'm sure you know much more about his off field issues than I do but I know I grew up a lot from the time I was 20 to where I am now.

Just holding out hope that he can be one of those turn around stories you hear about. Because we all know he has all the physical potential.

I understand your stance though, some people are just hard to root for.

Makes sense. Thanks for the response.

How is a DUI or anything Mike did comparable to anything I listed above? I'll wait.

A DUI and alcohol related legal issues are actually worse than anything you listed above. And by no means am I stating Lynch is a better person than Floyd.
