Isn't this how Michigan is? When we used to go up to Kalamazoo there were two clubs right beside each other. One was full nude and no alcohol and the other was tops only and alcohol.

That club still exists. It actually is only a few years old. Its separated by an adult novelty store. Lol. All under one roof. I'm not sure if the one side is still full nudity. I could be wrong but I believe they passed a no full nudity law.

I grew up in, and still live in, Kalamazoo

I lived in Denver for 10 years and loved that town. So much going for it in weather, women, activities, music, food and culture. Over 300+ days of sunshine with a Rocky Mtn backdrop. Here are some cities I dig, and not dig... in no particular order

Dig
Denver
Seattle
Portland
Chicago
Vancouver, CA

Do Not Dig
Buffalo - this town can eat shit.
Detroit - although, the metro isn't bad.
NYC - Sorry GK and Grahambo. Just not my speed.
Vegas - This town shouldn't exist.

Some Non Big Cities I Dig
Charleston, SC
Burlington, VT
Bozeman, MT
Boulder, CO
Key West, FL

Grand Rapids, MI is pretty cool for a non big city IMO.

Boston is great. Horrible driving and a majority of the people are assholes and the entire layout of the town makes no sense but great besides that.

I went to college near Philly and give my buddies shit about the city but I actually always liked Philly. The Manayunk area was always fun to visit when I was in college.

Grew up in Southern California. San Diego is incredible and LA has its merits. However, I fell in love with Nashville first time I went there. Then the wife fell in love with it and we started taking many trips there.

We are sick of the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia so we are getting out. Cashing in and retiring to Nashville. We are planning for early 2016, but we are doing our best to make it happen mid 2015.

Plus, driving distance up to South Bend from Nashville is pretty awesome. I hope NDinL.A. is ready for GO IRISH!!! to crash on his couch many football weekends!

The first thing I have to say is there might not be room to crash at NDinL.A.'s house because Koon already called dibs. But yes, the Nashville to South Bend drive is not bad at all-- definitely not one you'd like to do every weekend, but close enough to handle doing 1 or 2 weekends a year. If you make it a 3-day weekend, then it really is no sweat to handle.

Second is that we will be glad to have you in 2016, if not sooner!

I think Minneapolis is a pretty damn awesome city. I'm surprised it's not getting any love---it's sunny even in the winter and there's a ton to do. The city is very clean and safe, and the air quality is the best in the nation. I understand not everyone has the balls to deal with the winter here though (I grew up in a warmer place, so it's not a home bias thing). If you like riding bikes, there's no better city in America, bar none. There are like almost 200mi of bike trails in the city limits. They plow them in the winter too.

I'm kind of surprised by the new Orleans love. I'd be bothered by living in a dank, cockroach-infested hellhole that by all rights ought to be under water (seriously, why is there a major city next to the ocean when it is below sea level? Who decided that was a good idea?). I guess there's something I'm missing.

I really want to give Denver a try. Never been there, but as a bike-riding, outdoors-loving nerd, I think it sounds like my kind of place.

Well, Koon couldn't possibly have called dibs because I have already crashed there back for the Wake Forest game and ND's ascension to #1. When NDinL.A. and his wife were asleep, I went out and peed ALL OVER their yard - marking my territory like a wolf!

Thanks for the welcome to Nashville. We can't wait. We are starting to look at houses and we are getting really excited. Only thing holding us back from really getting the ball rolling is selling a vacation house. Once that domino falls, we will pull the trigger.

Sigh. It's not a bad city to live in anymore. The renaissance/transformation it's gone through in the last 5 or so years is unbelievable. I'm working in real estate as a summer job and the development going up downtown is incredible. Young professionals are flocking to the city and love it here. There's a lot of fun stuff to do if you know where to find it.

And plus, because this is important, USA Today named it one of the top 10 cities to go bar hopping in the world. Right alongside Dublin and New Orleans.

Sorry I know you guys don't give a shit but I've made it my duty in life to help outsiders realize that the national perception of Cleveland is outdated. Come and visit. I swear you'll love it.

I've been to Cleveland only once and had a great time. Got to sit behind the dugout at a Redsox vs Indians game then out on the town. That strip of bars in your last picture was pretty damn fun.

I haven't been to Philly since high school. So I have no idea how many BYOB restaurants they have. I wasn't challenging that they have them, or that they have more of them. The original post sounded like you were insinuating that Philly was the only place that has BYOB restaurants. When in fact, EVERY major city has them. There are probably 5 restaurants on my block that are BYOB. Some charge corkage, some don't.

Born and raised in Indy here, I don't know of any BYOB establishments. If anyone does please share. I'd like to check it out.

Well, there's your problem. Indy isn't a real city. Its just one continuous sprawl of suburbia. There's no actual urban section. LOL.

Midway isn't in a bad part of town.... The only trouble you can get in around there is if you don't like Kielbasa because that's all there is to eat.

I think he's talking about the robbery on the Orange Line. Pretty crazy, in broad daylight and all.

Still, mag's right that the city is basically safe except on the South and West Sides, where no visitor is likely to go. I wouldn't think twice about visiting, at least not based on the crime, the Orange Line incident notwithstanding. That kind of thing is really rare. And if you're worried about it, take a cab.

When I was in high school I was in band and we played across the state 3-4 nights a week. All the other guys were a few years older than I was. My hometown was Bay City and we played a place called "Peppers" and there was a strip club next door. Luckily our band had an agent to work out the details of an underage drummer playing with a band in their establishment. Some bar owners were cool to me, others not so much. I remember the strip club next door and they wouldn't let me in. I had to stay in Peppers and they watched me like a hawk.

Funny thing is I ended going to school at WMU and staying here in Kalamazoo.
